The previous owner either bumped lightly into something or someone tapped him in a parking lot and made a mark on the front bumper and an indent where the license plate holder used to be. It's the only blemish on the car and of course the first thing people notice

so I'd like to get the bumper touched up or repainted. I've heard Amato's is a good place to go but they've usually got a long wait. Has anyone had a good experience getting minor or major body work done on their cars? Where do Pioneer and Hohen send their cars?

Pioneer sends cars to West Coast Specialties, in the Miramar area.

When I had a minor accident with my "other" car I asked for recommendations on this forum, and hands down, West Coast Specialties got the biggest recommendations. I am very happy with the work they did and recommend them.

West Coast Specialties does the best metal bodywork and I am sure they can fix the bumper. I have had them do all the metal work on my Boxster and our old Mercedes and all the work was perfect.

However, it sounds like it is in the plastic area - we had Bumpers2Dents do plastic work on my rear Boxster bumper and on our BMW and they did a great job - also very reasonable prices and you can get it done quickly. (http://www.bumpers2dents.com, located on Convoy street in Kearney Mesa).

Note that both shops are regular Windblown Witness advertisers - it wouldn't hurt to mention you saw their ad if you go to one of these. I think you will be happy with either shop.

Put a roll cage in that car. Decent suspension. Good tires. ... Basically turn it into a real racecar and a tiny blemish will surely NOT be the first thing people notice.

But if you are set on making it pretty, West Coast Specialities is the place to go.

I have used Phil Thearle's on a couple of cars and their work is excellent. But for a bumper cover I would second the idea of Bumper Medic or one of those specialists. They will probably cost a lot less as well.

Most of the good shops, like those previously mention will charge $500 to refinish a bumper cover.

You'll get a satisfactory result at one of the dent shops , like Bumper Doc, for a whole lot less money.
