Black Forest 84 Carrera track car for sale

Postby mark k on Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:07 pm

Found another project and need to make room in the garage. Here is the short list on the 84.
Low mileage on a 3.6 964 motor with factory injection so it passes smog. 284 hp to the wheels with the muffler on. Trans done at the same time as the motor with limited slip and trans cooler.Suspension has lots of upgrades and time spent on it and the car sticks like glue! Very easy to drive fast and none of that tail-happy stuff.
Car has gone ttod at six out of seven auto-x's
Car won BRI six times straight.
Car is actually set up for big-track events with BIG
torsion bars, big front oil cooler and more.Erik ran
132's at big Willow his first day there and we figure it could go 129 to 130 lap time with fresh tires and more seat time. This is the fastest most streetable car I have done yet.Cost to duplicate is 50 to $60k+. This weeks price is $37k

Is this the same car you had at Streets of Willow back in April?

None of us in AM would be sad to see this car sold to someone in another region

You guys should have seen the writing on the wall when Roland showed up with a 80 SC running a 3.6,short gears,coil-overs,big brakes and 315 tires in your AM class.Sell those early cars to the R-Grouppe guys and build (or buy) something competative.

Yeah, that's what I want to do, start all over because our local region made a class change that made an entire era of Porsche's obsolete. Thank you Zone 8!

A competitor in your same class saying they would like to see your car move to a different region is about as good of a sales pitch as anyone could ever ask for.

Serious question, do you know what POC class your car is in?

Not intending to hijack this thread, but it appears to everyone I have talked to that the last Z8 car classification restructuring was an oversight of some kind which has created the present loophole.

It is very hard to fathom that there would be a rules change to intentionally obsolete an entire group of existing cars that participate in club TT events.

I am hoping someone with a better technical grip and vocabulary than myself can get some correcting factors put in place for the next rules ammendment. I think the discussion in an earlier thread about the AM class was a good starting point.

As I have said before, there is no other PCA class where cars of such a wide h.p.spread are expected to compete on a fair and equitable basis...I can just imagine the hub-bub that would get stirred up if something like this were happening in the KP class.

Anyway, Best of luck to ya Mark on selling your car, I hope it sells fast, and to some lucky new owner out of Z8!!

As far as POC classification goes the car would be at least a V2 car and run in the red run group.

That's a 10-4.....by about 4 pts if I remember correctly.

I guess since it is indeed true, as far as POC car classification is concerned, my 3.2L 911 is in the same class as Mark's 3.6L 911...our two cars are a lot more equal than I realize - or am willing to admit. I guess the only stone left un-turned is the driver....All other factors being considered equal I am still about 2-3 sec/lap slower on average....'guess I just have that much more seat time ahead of me to improve - which is un-argueable when comparing me to Mark :D

The only question I can come back with is ....

...where does the additional 40+ h.p. and how many pounds of additional torque ...fit into the equality equation of being in the same class? My car at 2200# might be a tad lighter...but not nearly enough to offset the advantage of 3.6L brute strength.

I'll put it this way....If Mark & I swapped cars and drove Big Willow for a day.....and my car is to date a solid 1:31 car, I feel pretty confident at the end of that day I would be driving home with the bigger smile... and I don't think it's because I am a better driver.

He who shows up to the shooting match with the biggest gun wins most often...it's better than Vegas odds.

Compared to you boys I have a .22....

my car was approx 2280 before the rollbar. I am probably just over 2300# , Curts car is light as well, I am going to have to put my car on a diet. Colin Chapman says to go faster make it lighter...

I feel a need to build a 993 RS clone and move on from the banana rear suspension car.Only problem is the concept of going 1-2 seconds slower in a heavier car.
