Coronado Speed Festival a huge hit

A big thanks to all our volunteers and especially to Katie Kinninger for another great event. We had a huge turnout Sunday and I understand Saturday was even more packed. Lots of Zone 8 members from the O.C. and Long Beach joined us. The 50 years of 911 display was pretty cool too. Well done. Take the rest of the day off Katie.

YEA, We did it again, A Big Thank you to Porsche of San Diego and Joe Allis, for their support in Sponsoring this Event
I have to thank John Bell, he is my silent Co-Chair, I would not do this without his support... We were issued 350 Corral passes and John mailed at least 300 of these to our members, the rest were passed out. We had a fabulous turn out both days, On Sat I stopped counting at 130 cars, and we overflowed our Corral space.
My other volunteers that must be mentioned are:
Don Auten – ICE Sat/Sun
Joe Hoffman – Coffee Racer Sat/ Sun
Pat Corona Goodie Store
Jim Dunlap Parking Sat/ Sun & tear down Sun afternoon
Bob Hallett – and his son Robbie Hallett Parking Sat/ Sun
Craig Fenstermaker - Parking Sat
Mark Knechtel Parking Sat
Leigh Raynar – Parking Sun
Herb Meeder, Parking Sun
Tim Peterson – Parking Sun, This wonderful guy ended up with the 2nd shift by himself, Thank you Tim...
More volunteers are needed next year, Please........

I must mention the NAVY, Not only did Navy Host a fabulous event, one of them, LS1 SONNIE SIMANSKI, responded to my post on the forum asking for volunteers to help park cars.. On Friday afternoon, 8 Navy volunteers helped set up the table and Chairs and flag poles, and another 7 were there Sat morning and helped park the cars, we filled the corral by 10:30, it was quite hectic with so many cars coming in so quickly and the help from the NAVY was greatly appreciated!

Photos to follow... Katie Kinninger
PS ON Sunday I got my parade lap, I rode as passenger in the little orange Fiat 500 from the car show. :D

Hi Everyone- Excellent! Excellent!! Excellent Event!!! I am in the process of writing an Article, with about a dozen Photos, for the Windblown Witness, which will be reviewed before submission- hopefully to be in the November Issue of the WW.

Also- I will burn a CD with over 200 Photos that include PCA-SDR Cars and Members and many close up shots of Cars in Pits, Race Grid and Porsche Member Cars Racing, including Photos of those Members that on Saturday did the 50th Anniversary Tribute Lap!!! Hopefull most of these Photos will be uploaded to the PCA-SDR Facebook Page.

Thanks again to Katie and all the other Volunteers that did an excellent job in pulling this Event together- no easy task!!!

No way this would have been as successful for PCA SDR as it was without the work that Katie, John and the navy volunteers provided.

In addition to all the cudos, I want to also personally pass on a tremendous thank you and appreciation to Joe Allis, President and General Manager of Porsche of S.D. for their help in Sponsoring this Event and providing our Club with the Porsche Display Cars- 2013 Panamera GTS 2013 and the Cayenne S Diesel. Larry Suarez, Porsche of S.D., Service Director was there on Saturday with his son, Dillon and I was able to take a great Photo of them both (which I will send to him directly).

And, wasn't it also great to see Jack Case, one of PCA's most distinguished " Founding Fathers" at this Event on both Saturday and Sunday!!!
