Service Maintenance?

Postby shawnsun on Mon Oct 21, 2013 12:49 pm

I'm a new owner of the 2012 Cayman S (Black Edition) :D
It's "executive demo" so I bought it with 3,500 miles on (even though sold as new car).
For the service maintenance, which dealer should I bring my car to?
Porsche of San Diego or Hoehn Porsche? Which adviser would you recommend?
Is it normal to receive non-Porsche loaner car?

I hope I'm not violate any posting rules, and your feedback will be extremely appreciated.
Please PM (or email me) if recommendation is not allowed on this forum (as I've yet to find anyone asking for adviser recommendation).

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum Shawn, and congratulations on your Cayman. Your inquiry is a little awkward, as both Hoehn and San Diego Porsche are great sponsors and supporters of the Club. I honestly haven't heard anything but positive comments on both service departments, so I would suggest going to whichever is more convenient for you. As for loaner cars, yeah, it is pretty typical that you won't get a Porsche, as they don't really have entry level cars. If you take your BMW M6 in for service, they'll probably give you a 128 as a loaner or whatever their current entry level vehicle is. But Porsche doesn't have any $30k cars, so...

To really see what your car can do come on down and Autocross with us at Qualcomm. We'll provide an instructor for free and you will have a blast!

Thanks for your reply! I will try both services and find the one that's most convenient for me.

Does anyone have any suggestion on the advisers for a newbie(first time owner)? I will need someone who can give me a lot of suggestions, for example: what's the proper rmp to change gear? I would tend to think these advisers have more experience (as they've seem Porsches day in and day out) and they would know better.

Thanks again!

Your Porsche service advisor will be a valuable resource when deciding which service and maintenance should be done to keep her healthy. Your local PCA may be your best resource to teach you how to drive your car and get the most out of it. Different roles, wearing different but complimentary hats. :beerchug:

Will "Autocross" @ Qualcomm void my factory warranty?
