2015 rules

Postby surferr on Mon Oct 27, 2014 5:45 pm

I am getting ready to buy some new track tires and am looking to step down in tread wear rating and up in class. I am currently running 200 and need to know if I should go to 100 or down to 40 and where that will put me for either choice? Are next years rules and regs out yet? slo 944 CC-01

Peter -

We are in the second round of proposal review, which will end on 10/31. Then the region presidents have to approve the 2015 proposals in November. The current proposals can be found here:

http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/proposed.php

As far as tires, the only driving event proposal up for review is Driving Events Proposal #7, which would change the range of 20 point tires from 140-199 to 140-200 (basically including 200 tw tires in the 20 point assessment). There would be no change to the points assessments for 100 or 40 tw tires.

Another proposal which may or may not affect you is Driving Events Proposal #6, which would reduce the "free" weight reduction allowance from 2.5% of your curb weight down to 1.5% of your curb weight.

I recommend that those who care about what class they will be in next year to review the entire proposal document to see if these changes will affect you.

Thank you Russell. Clear answer.

Not a large selection of performance tires to choose from in the 15" rim size above the 201 tread wear. Looks like the 20 point adjustment for the 1 point change, 199-200, will bump me up to the CC-02 run group without changing tires. Were there complaints on the 200 tread wear g-Force or Rs-3 that are popular in the 15" CC-01, 02, 03 groups?
Personally, I was thinking of stiffer springs and stickier tires for next year anyways, this 1 point adjustment would be huge a setback for the more stock cars that want to be BRI competitive.

Thanks again for the info Russell, I appreciate all the hard work and effort you and the team put forth for the club. This gives me the information I need to spend some money foolishly.
