Driving back from Spring mountain?

Postby Dave Diamond on Mon Feb 09, 2015 5:29 pm

Not having driven to/from Las Vegas in many years, I don't have a good sense of the return traffic on Sunday, other than to assume it's bad. Do most of you plan to stay over til Monday am, drive late on Sunday, or just leave after timed runs and tough it out?
Thanks.

When I drove back to San Diego from Spring Mountain in September 2014 on a Sunday afternoon/evening after a track weekend with the Las Vegas PCA, the traffic actually wasn't bad at all. Google Maps showed that the traffic coming out of Las Vegas was bad (red) on I-15, but the road from Pahrump that connects to I-15 (hwy 127) merged just beyond all of that traffic. I think I made it home in about 4:30 hours with only minor slow-downs on the way home.

I plan to drive back Sunday
Last time I drove back from Las Vegas on a Sunday the backup was around the state line on 15 and some through Riverside on the 215.
As Marcus said, you would merge into the 15 at Baker, east of the bad traffic coming out of Las Vegas
Other than that it was good

You can get lucky and make it with no problem, or.... you may get home around 2am. No way to know. We stay in Vegas for a night or two.
