I am all in favor of improving safety, but I think that ultimately every individual is responsible for managing their own risk. That is the central right and responsibility of adulthood.

That being said, managing one's own risk does not extend to any situation wherein one's actions have a high likelihood of incurring risk to another. Anyone with less than four verifiable events should be required to take an instructor to minimize the risk to other participants, and any car carrying a passenger, whether an instructor, student, observer, friend, family, or other, should be required to run street tires and observe a speed limit proportional to the amount of safety equipment installed (i.e. stock street equipment 90mph, harnesses and roll bar 100mph, HANS harnesses and half cage 120mph, etc).

Side note- I don't believe making HANS devices and the associated belts, roll structure, etc should be compulsory in HPDE, as the safety gains are outweighed by the safety risks posed by decreased area of vision for a novice driver.

I believe it was the third autocross I ever attended, when a driver in a Z06 Vette spun through the finish, hopped a curb backward and took out a small (6 foot tall) tree.

Haven't seen anything comparable since then, and you could argue that the Vette driver was driving at 11/10ths.

I was a really fast yet challenging track, the fast downhill sweeper was especially fun. Another great track design from Marcus and Andrew.
While maybe a bit too fast and close to things for beginners, with a couple minor changes (mostly in the top back corner) it would be a great track for a regular AX too.

ask some people that have been around for a few years about the guy in the 996 that hopped a curb, flew through a chain link fence and landed 15 feet from a SD police car / guy enjoying his lunch while watching us AX.

That guy experienced what happens when you violate the "Recognize when you can't save it" rule. The cop just sat there eating his lunch, didn't faze him a bit

Nice track, with a few changes it could be a fun track for Zone 8 event.
