Can we get an early look at the 8/21 AX track map?

Can we get an early look at the 8/21 AX track map?

Postby Mike on Mon Aug 16, 2004 5:42 pm

I like to scan the track, during the week it puts me in a nice raceday frame of mind! :D
I expect to be there early to help throw cones too.
Looking forward to staying cool with a mid summer beach city AX.
Best regards,
Mike

Man, that's a nice lookin' car, Mike! And quick, too. I wish I had video of you "snow plowing" the whole left side of the track at the top of the hill during the last DE. But I'll bet you're dyin' to get behind the wheel of my 944-spec car, huh?
Ok,ok. We can trade rides.........
Just don't hit the throttle too hard or you might bake my little 225's right off the wheels!

Snowplowing, oh  you saw that.
Yeah I attacked it a bit too early before the brakes and tires were hot. I thought the right sweeper you speak of at the top of the track was the most interesting section. For my car that was a fun 3rd gear moderate pitch and catch followed by a tight right and a severe second gear pitch and catch. I felt I was rear wheel steer through that area.

At the AX I'll be on 15x7 phone dials so your 225s should be about the same size as my tires, should make it close?

Swap? I think you'd have a problem reaching the pedals on my car. :beerchug:

Mike,
I can borrow a pair of Lewis's platform shoes from the 70's. :P
Why such narrow wheels? 7 x 15 phonies?

He's sandbagging you, TIm. Those 7x15s will have 9x23x15 Goodyear cantilever slicks on them. :burnout:

Sandbagger? Snowplow? You guys are gonna bruise my delicate  sensibilities.
It's good for me; it helps prepare me :x for the reality of being Saturday’s opening act in AR.
I’ll be fluffing :? the crowd before the Steve and Ralph finale.

Lewis has 70's platforms :?:
Imho Lewis is much more generous that that,
if you ask I bet he'd loan you his new ones.

Mi amigos, por favor, donde esta el AX mapo?

Well, Jad.

Therein lies the challange .... brake before the swale, in the swale, after the swale?

Hmmmmm ...... If I'm in a Turbo S and I'm doing 90 MPH (that should be a good trick considering you'll be in a tight slalom off-camber and then a sweeper ... ), I might brake before the swale and settle the car for the very, very tight chicanes pre-empting the timing lights.

Hmmmm ...... or I could take my chances and brake after the swale, blow through the chicanes and take out the timing light hardware ... again! :banghead: Hmmm ..... tough call there.

Or maybe I'll brake a little before the swale ... settle the car through the swale ... and brake after the swale before the turn-in to the chicane. Hmmmm. :roflmao:

So, the idea was to get you thinking about the next couple of turns and surfaces ahead. Huh, a thinking man's track .... go figure! 8)

I hope you're there. If not, we'll see you at the next one.
