Social and Tour IDEAS

Postby Jad on Wed Oct 26, 2005 4:11 pm

Lets let the other thread die and post any ideas that people have for new events here. If we come up with some, I am sure the appropriate board members or chairs will attempt to make them happen.

 I think this club is in desperate need of an event at an indoor karting place. We have had meetings there, but never a regular driving event that I am aware of.

Anyone else be interested in this?

tour ideas

Jad,
I like the new thread AND your idea. I think K1 speed would love to have a large group of PCASDR drivers and I'm sure we could get a group rate. In light of the previous thread on the death of AXing in SD, maybe we should get on board and in good standing with them...Gets my vote.

Jad
I think that is a great idea, but only if the karting folk don't remember the last SDR karting night. I think it was before your time and at the first SD indoor karting place in Santee.

After scrapping 6 karts they politely asked us to leave... and not return.
Think turn 1 at the USGP... without the runoff... with bigger egos and less talent.

So you can count me in... Should we have your name engraved on the TTOD trophy now? Or wait and see what Martin has up his sleeve?

Karting

Postby Paul Davis on Wed Oct 26, 2005 6:15 pm

Good evening, glad to see the wonderful positive thoughts.

Some of you may remember a few years ago the SCCA Autox guys got a Karting thing going. It went really well. They also had a thing going at the place on Miramar road.

This could be set up as a spin off to the social events, you may even consider more than one level of run group.

By the way, I have a direct line to the social planning for next year. If any of hyou have a idea you would like to see happen, a place you would like to go on a Tuesday Social, any positive fun idea, put it in this thread. I will carry the message to those who plan.

And by the way, the Year end Gala in January will be great fun with minimal talking, great food, drivers are coming, the more the merrier. You guys need to get together and make a night of it.

Well then, I'd suggest a wheel chair race around the Leisure World grounds.

You missed that window of opportunity by 30+ years

When would you be able to attend? Could you make weeknights or would the drive be too long for you?

Wait, I think I hear Curt complaining his kart is underpowered already

Maybe a karting event could be run like and autocross and not a race and fewer karts would be trashed.

Just an $.01 from someone who hasn't even seen the venue.

But this is Porsche club and not a go-kart club, so what do we do with our cars?

Karting

Postby Paul Davis on Thu Oct 27, 2005 10:20 am

AS i recall, both the kart places have a league night, a night where you pay a special price and get a venue of racing. If you combine the PCA guys with this, or simply enter within it, the cost is less.

They may be open to having a single run group of PCA between run groups of open league guys.

somebody needs to call the two kart places and see what they will do for a group on thier race nights and what the pricing is

I'm trying to put together the foundation for a karting event at the stadium. Jad knows about the arrive and drive program for the karting enduros.
I'd be up for a karting event at Miramar.

Weekdays are a bit tough for Dan... After hitting the early-bird special at Denny's and an episode of Lawerance Welk, Dan is already in his Sparco footie jammies... :?

Jad,

Great thread, great idea.

And, not to go throwing a wet blanket (or gas on a fire, as the forum goes) on this great idea, but PCA National has come out very strongly against PCA regions participating in sanctioned or endorsed Karting events, and will not cover liabilities with club insurance :( .

The stance from National is that no Karting events will be sanctioned, endorsed, spondored, or insured by PCA Regions.

So, officially, no "PCA Club" karting events will be covered by PCA in any way. On the other hand, Jad, if you ( or anyone else) decide to team up with ... say... the Tours Chairs, or the Social Chairs, and an event just happens to end at a Karting location .... with the official announcement that "The PCA-SDR event is officially over. You folks are on your own, have a nice day ........"

Keep me on the mailing list for this one!
