Sundays DE need sub belt

Postby Rsylvestri on Sat Nov 05, 2005 6:38 am

I just registered for Sat/Sun AX/DE combo and need to find some where to pick up a Schroth sub belt.
The previous owner of my 993C4 had a Schroth 4 point system in the car, the cam lock has room for 5 points. Can I install a six point with this configuration or just the standard 5 point w/sub. I PM'd James @ Dave Turner Motorsport but wanted to see if there are any other suppliers I could find for this
Does it have to be a Schroth latch system for the sub? Is there a cross brace that would go under the seat for a 6 point set up?

Thanks for any info or guidance

The 5 and 6 point harnesses still have only one tab entering the camlock housing. You can do either one. I have swapped different brands of belts and cam housings. You just have to try them and see if they snap in well.
I have some subs to try if you don't find a Schroth.

Thanks Tim,
Do you know if the six point leg harnesses can be mounted to the seat rails via brackets?

I wouldn't mount any belt of the harnesses to the seat if it can be avoided. AX'ing involves minimal risk of crashing, so that's one thing. But racing? No way. You want the seat and the harnesses bolted to the chassis independently so that there are 2 systems holding you in place.
Make sense?

I don't know - I thought the "Amazing Video" clip of the stolen Corvette crashing into the back of the semi was pretty cool, when the driver and the seat (fastened together) exited the remains of the car and headed out across the desert.

Are you sure the seat stayed with him? That's almost impossible and I don't remember seeing that in the video......
I remember him ending up in a sitting position. Lucky *&%$# thief.

I think Brae-Krause makes a system that bolts in to the existing seat-belt mounting system (to the car), and the sub-belt attaches to that system. It's suppose to be similar to a 6-point system - if not a six-point system, in fact.

I'd contact Dave Turner's, or Group 9, Mind Over Motor Sports, or somebody who knows these sysems well, and find out what your options are. The experts are sure to give you the best options, and pricing.

I've got a PM into James @ Dave Turner.
The previous owner put in the B/K lap belt hardware so they all just clip in. I've been reading on a few different sites and I thought it was OK to attach the two subs on a six point to those lap connections. The rears/shoulders are bolt in with a B/K harness bar. I'll search Pelican and Rennlist some more..... ???
Thanks for the help Guys!
