Guide I found and used:
http://features.evolutionm.net/printpage.php?id=46

I only had one set of Toyo's so far and didn't shave them, but consider shaving the next set.

After 2 days @ Buttonwillow (this shaved them) and 6 AutoXs the rears started showing the cords and the front are still at 50%, I am convinced if my car had an LSD the rears would still be at 10-20%.

Compare to the Victoracer: they are more conistent, don't appear to be affect by heatcycles, but as Jad mentioned I think they are just a little slower and feel heavier.

At this point I have both a set of Kumho and a set of Toyo because I don't know which one I like the most, but I am leaning to the Kumho.

See you soon at Big Willow (by the way their website is down too)

Martin:

Thank you for the info. Will check it out. Glad to hear you are coming to Willow. It won't be hot this time for sure. Since you have a pyrometer you may be able to give us some guidance with respect to the relation between optimal tire patch temperatures and the corresponding hot pressures.

Check the internet for Chapman BMW. They seem to be the major race supplier.

I just ordered a set from http://www.bmwwheels.com/bmwwheels_toyo_tires.asp, these guys have the best price and have the easiest way to order online. Check it out.

Martin,

Were you able to get those tires heat cycled? I didn't see that available on the website?

Glenn,

I don't know if they offer heat cycling, I didn't get my Toyo's heat cycled. They ship shaved 4/32 and 2/32.

If I remember correctly, they do not need heat cycling. Nor does Toyo recommend it I beleive.

That is correct they do not recommend heat cycling.
4/32 shave is standard and ready to run fast laps.
2/32 shave for timed runs and your personal TTOD.

If you are thrifty with your racing budget they will shave 6/32 and you will get about a session of break-in and then they are ready to go for more laps than you can count.

Do not run these at full tread, that is for rain only.

Brian at Chapman Motorsports is a really great guy and will shave them for whatever you are doing.
(but they prefer 4/32 as that is what their machine is set up for)

What is the name of the distributor in AZ that has great prices on Toyo RA-1? I know they show up for CA Festival of Speed.....but I doubt they'll be at Willow. Buy early.

The company name is Chapman BMW (BMW dealer in Scottsdale AZ)
http://www.chapmanbmw.com/

They have a wheel/tire business that is BMW slanted but they love us tire burning Porsche drivers, and are really great to deal with.

The guy you will be talking to is Brian.
