P9201 and where to find one?

Postby TheStig on Sat Jan 21, 2006 10:03 pm

Hey fellow Porschephiles.

It's been a while since I've posted on the forums. I've been busy tinkering around with the 944 and getting the new block ready for install.

I'm in need of the P9201 tension tool to adjust the cam belt since my tool can only get enough clearance to do the balance shaft belt. I've seen the tension tool at 2 places that are asking $800+ which is some obscene figure for that sucker. For that price, they might as well include every roller in the front and belts

Anyone know where the P9201 can be purchased for a price more reasonable, then an arm or a leg? I'm afraid I might need those to work on this car still :P

Timing tool

There is an aftermarket timing belt tension tool developed by Jay Kempf. It is available at 928 International for $59. I think it can be used for 928 or 944 timing belts.

What about renting one? Make sure it's calibrated...............

Hey Greg, we tried using the Kempf tool when the head went, but there is no place to put it in order to tension the belts to get an accurate reading.

Renting sounds like a good idea, but where to rent one leaves me with more questions than a 5 year old kid saying "why???" every 10 seconds. :roflmao:
