No, the car I'm building is a very sedate 911R clone, and due to the transplant of a stock '83 911SC 3-liter engine, it won't qualify for FS class, it will definitely be an FP car. However, due to the lack of any real competition in FP, I just may have to move it up to the GP class to have someone to run against.Dan Chambers wrote:TT: are those, in fact, pirated pic's of the '68 project you plan to run in FS/GP?

Be very afraid, Dan-o!944-Spec will look awfully good to you by then, I think.

Great...... just great. I'm having flash-backs to 2004.
There is no justice.... The SC was rated by the factory at 180HP, but since exhaust is free in everything but SS class, I have already added the headers and sport muffler that should take it up to a little over 200, with Steve G's magic CIS tuning tricks. It's not all about the HP, though. The low-end torque is so much better than the 2-liter S motor it's ridiculous--the car should get out of those slow 2nd gear corners MUCH better than my '67S.Dan Chambers wrote: (What's the 3-L got ..... 165, 170 HP?)
Not quite. The factory curb weight for this model was 2271 lbs., so I will have to ballast it up to 2221, without driver (but with full gas tank, spare, toolkit and jack), as I can't take any more points for weight reduction or I would be in FI class. I figure about 2370 with driver, in race trim with only 1/4 tank of gas for timed runs. It will be pretty much optimized for FP with 20 points (12 for the motor, 4 for tires, 4 for oversize T-bars and ARBs.) It should be a few seconds faster than my old GS car.lower weight (let me guess: 2300 Lbs with you in it?

Hate it when I'm wrong.
I might have been born yesterday, but it wasn't last night. PLEASE! ).... we should definitely be in equal cars in the same class. NOT!
The 944Spec class is just a little more equal to my boat, than your "FP/GP" car.
Move over Jackie, John, Chuck/Debbie, Tim .... you've got company I thought that would wind you up pretty well! Judging from the number of emoticons in your message, I've got you jumping up and down like a circus monkey on a hotplate now!Dan Chambers wrote:The 944Spec class is just a little more equal to my boat, than your "FP/GP" car.![]()

Lemme guess....Because the 944s were so slow?? Isn't G supposed to be a faster class than F? I think they should have left the 911s alone and just moved the 944s down to C class... No, then you'd have those pesky 90 HP 914s and 912Es to deal with... Maybe they should be put into B-class. No one's using that letter right now!Dan Chambers wrote: So... why do you think it was requested, and the rules changed so that 911's be moved to H or I class?

Well, it's not all about hp/weight, you've got that superior 944 handling going for you, after all--better than a Z06, right?

The Weather Channel is giving it a 60% chance of showers at the moment. Our autox schedule seems to have an uncanny ability to attract frontal passages.Dan Chambers wrote: BTW: will it rain this weekend??![]()
