Update from the Tecate Race

Postby john rogers on Mon Aug 30, 2004 2:22 pm

Well the San Diego racers made it through the Tecate race weekend with little carnage. John Chambers was 2nd in class A I think after banging a rear wheel at the start. A driver from LA tore up the left front of a Ferrari 360 in the 1st practice session. He had to really work to get by me coming on to the front straight (yea right!). One car went into the ravine going over the off camber hill, several others blew engines, several others bent front ends. About the wildest car was the RX-7 with the 355 cu in Chevy engine and crash box tranny, but he kept having over heating troubles. I had a right rear tire go flat with about 5 laps to go and that ended things, but at least safely. I was great to see Don and Felix there cheering me on, thanks guys.
