I am REALLY sick and tired of contacts and glasses. So I'm looking into Lasik. This looks promising and inexpensive. Anyone have any experience with this product?

I had lasik done 5 years ago by an MD here in SD. After seeing what they had to do I's be a little afraid of a home cure for my vision. The price of making a mistake is too high for me. I read the article and see it has been approved and won awards but the thought scares me more than a high speed off at big willow. I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has actually done this for themself.

Oh yeah, Mike go ahead. But make sure you have a dog and white and red cane ready. You'll need it. This is like the post on another site about oral sex and breast cancer. I love these.

Like I said get a dog if you are going to do it youself.

Uhm: if I remember my neuro-phys. 101 class correctly, the eyes are considered neuro-tissue, and you only get one set of eyes per life-time (brains/eyes/spinal cord, cephalic membranes, etc).

Botch the job, and there's no "second-try." As Curt would say, "this ain't rocket surgury" but it is neuro-surgery in some ways. See a specialist .... while you can still see!

Talk to Lewis Wise, Jad(?), Steve G.(?), and others who might have had the procedure done in town. I'm sure if they had it done, they'd share their experiences.

I had my eyes done in 2001, greatest surgical procedure ever! My wife had her procedure this year by Dr. Kawesch. She loved it and was driving to LA about 15 hours after the surgery. But I think one of our members is a Lasik DR and also participates at AX events.

As much as I have given you a bad time, I have to add. I had lasik 5 years ago and corrected 20/800(almost needed a dog) vision to 20/20 or better. Not been sorry one bit and love being without glasses. Almost any of the clinics are good, but I'd get a recommendation from my eye Doctor if I were you.

In case anyone is interested, I was kidding (but you knew that, right???). I did have Lasik yesterday, but at the Advanced Ophthalmology Institute in La Jolla NOT at home. And, I actually found the Optometrist by way of another Off Topic posting I made on this forum a few months ago. So this club has helped me with more than just Porsche info. Thanks Club.

BTW, in case you didn't see it, this was by far the funniest part of that site. "4 easy steps"...

Steve Grosekemper could have done it for you for way less money. He has an awesome set of tools. Have you seen the Snap-On home lasik tools? You can buy them from any Snap-On truck.

I swear, you new car, water-pumper guys gotta get your hands dirty. No more of this car being serviced at the dealer and eye surgery from a trained doctor.

I did my own lasik surgery with a stick and a rusty beer can pull tab. It didn't work to well, but I felt pride in doing it myself and I was THANKFUL. So now my vision is 20/2074, but there is a bright side. I now find the Porsche 944 to be a good looking car. Well, I think it's the 944 I like. However, it could be a Ford Probe or maybe a Mitsubishi Starion or Nissan Pulsar that looks good to me now....... I really can't tell.

PS. Mike, I knew you were kidding.
