I thought I should mention that I have had two seat brackets fail. Maybe I need to lose 20 lbs like Martin, but maybe Recaro needs a little better design. If you have the Recaro sliders, the drop down part is 'lightly' spot welded on. I had one fail on each seat, which prevented them from sliding, but more importantly meant the seat was not well attached to the car.

It was easily fixed by someone with welding skills (thanks again Steve), so if you have those sliders you may want to have them welded better, otherwise, in an accident, your seat could easily un-attach from the car, which would be bad

Those sliders are designed for reclinable seats.....Recaro does make a "flat" double-locking slider that works quite well, as well as their narrower Sparco and MOMO counterparts. The only difference is the flat ones do not have those tabs and questionable welds, and the base/adapter needs to be specially made for the "flat" design (as 95% of the bases/adapters made by Wedge Engineering for Recaro, MOMO, Sparco, Cobra, etc. are designed for the "tabbed" sliders and reclinable seats).

Why are they for reclinable seats? What difference does that make? Since Amy sometimes drives the car, I need the seat mounted fairly high, so a flat mount wouldn't work, but I don't see why they would be so cheap on a fairly important safety device. Must say I was a bit disappointed in Recaro.

I believe James means they are for seats that need to be set with rake.
(front higher than the back) not really a reclinable seat.
None the less, the design is not quite up to DOT standards... that is why they say "For off-road use only"

And no, I am not going to do it!
Not a word about you taking that off-road disclaimer a bit too literally...

yeah yeah, everyones a comedian. I actually felt the second one break while going around Riverside (NASCAR or whatever it is called). Not a great feeling, but at least I knew what it was right when it happened.

I don't see anywhere in the literature or website where it says Off road use only Mr Comedian

I Don't get it, The disclaimer says for 'off road' use and thats exactly what Jad used them for !!!

The problem is, it is off road use ONLY, and for a few brief second during timed runs, I was on the road, though not nearly as long as you two, but I was on the road for that very short period of time.
