Caravan to Pahrump?

Postby Jad on Thu Sep 23, 2004 7:01 am

I was thinking of leaving between 11 AM and noon on Friday to trailer up to Pahrump. Anyone else thinking of leaving around then and want to caravan?

Will your car be painted by then? I can't be seen caravaning with a water pumper....

What route do you take? Maybe we can meet up at some point.

WHAT, do you want me to paint 'aircooled' on the side and drive slower?

I will probably follow Jack's directions and take the 15 most of the way.

I'm in. Last year we met at North County fair and went up from there. Dan, you could meet us around Elsinore. Doesn't the 73 cross the mountains there from the OC?

If you can't leave with Jack at 9:30, I will be at the Deer Park exit at 11:30, so if you want to join us, see you there. The off ramp is wide with lots of room. It is 5 miles north of the 78 on the 15. I will have my Talk-about on channel 5-1

I don't want to meet at North County Fair as I will be coming on the 78 and NCF would require backtracking.

See everyone else in Pahrump.

Jad, I might be able to make a departure time of around 11:30am from Cardiff depending upon how quickly I load on Friday morning. Do you want to hook up on the 5 since you will likely be passing my exit (Birmingham)?

I'll be leaving Old Town around 11:30 or noon. But as my tow vehicle will likely be the slowest I'll plan to drive on my own.

I have FRS, which I guess that's the same as the Talk-About's? I'll put it on 5-1 just in case.

I have to stop at Palomar Airport to pick up my dad at 11:00, so I plan on leaving Del Mar at 10:30, driving to Jetsource, then heading to Deer Park at 11:30, getting to Pahrump at 5-6 if all goes well.

Try the talkabout (5-1) if you think you are close and want to join at some point or call my cell phone, 619-607-6484, though I don't know what kind of reception there is on much of the drive.

I don't plan on speeding much, as everyone has said this is a heavily patroled drive, especially near Pahrump!

It appears we won't be leaving until 1:30pm or so on Friday, so I will just meet up with you Gents at the Hotel. If we do not make it in time I am assuming there is Tech at the Track Saturday Morning?

Thanks,
Dan

It's not the speeding (I don't think my truck CAN speed). What I meant by slow is that I will be lucky if I can keep it at the speed limit. Bill H. will not caravan with me anymore until I get a new tow rig  .

Dan (leaving 2 hours after me) will probably pass me somewhere around Victorville  .

You might want to swing by the track on Friday. We might still be there. But yeah, tech at track. Didn't you tech in town? If so, all you'll need to do is register.

As to teching at the track.

I will be getting my car ready to go racing on Saturday morning. If it is a choce between teching a group of unprepared people and me missing track time YOU will loose.

No regular local drivers have any excuse for not being teched.

If you don't pass tech and need correction and re-tech, you will loose track time.

Don't risk it, get your car checked now! if you haven't done so already.

Steve,
Just to be clear...you will be handing out stickers for people who are pre-teched at the track Friday night between 5-7pm?

If you are pre-teched with a filled out form and no sticker, like you Jackie. (Or anyone using a POC tech station) All you need to do is find me at the track before 7pm or at the hotel later....If you can.

You must see me for a sticker before registration! No sheet no sticker!!!

Jack says to tech at the track Steve says not likely? Unfortunately its been very difficult to get the car tech'd during the week and they aren't open on weekends. So like it or not thats my excuse. If I can't make it by 7pm on Friday I need to know 'now' that tech is available on Saturday morning, otherwise I will contact Jack now for a refund being I can't get tech'd. If Steve needs help getting prepared on Saturday morning I'll be glad to help if need be.

Thanks,
Dan
