The 620-horsepower 911 GT2 RS is fastest and most powerful Porsche ever built – and all 500 of the limited-edition model are presold. Not bad in a down economy for a car that had its worldwide debut less than two months ago at the Moscow Auto Show.

At $245,950, it is also the most expensive 911 model. In the United States, Porsche has deposits for 133 GT2 RS cars, which will be delivered in February.

The 2011 GT2 RS has 90 more horsepower and weighs 154 pounds less than the previous model. The revised 3.6-liter Boxer engine will do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and has a top-track speed of 205 mph.

Weight savings were found in the lavish use of carbon-fiber-reinforced components with a matte-black finish, even wider wheels (including flared wheel arches at the front) and new light-alloy wheels with central locking. There is matte-finish carbon on the redesigned front spoiler lip and the slightly taller rear spoiler, both of which enhances aerodynamics and adds downforce.

The cabin is track focused with two-piece, carbon-fiber-reinforced-plastic bucket seats, and lightweight door panels with fabric release straps, which look racier than traditional door handles. The basic interior color is black with red accents.
