RAIN?

Postby Jad on Fri Mar 11, 2005 4:48 pm

The long range forecast for Ontario/Fontana is rain on Friday and Saturday

Don't suppose we run at all in the wet, so anyone know what the policy is?

Fingers crossed doing a sun dance.

It actually says "scattered showers" and "few showers" which is very different from rain.

Looks like my rain tires might make a debut!!!

You hit the bank at 140 mph on slicks and tell me it showers not rain

Word from the top (Vince K.), last night, is: " The TT is a rain-or-shine event." So, bring your street/rain-tires, and be prepard for anything. :burnout:

The weather forecast for Fontana has already changed, no rain or showers at this point!

That is ridiculous, no series that I know of will race on a high speed oval in the rain (F1 at Indy is close, but really only start on the bank and then use the straight). Rain tires can not handle the rivers that run down the banking at 100+ mph. Maybe if they reconfigure the track to the motorcycle route below the bank?

Hopefully the weather will improve or this could be a complete disaster for the zone and really make SDR look brillant for not taking the chance. The reports have changed about 5 times in 5 days, so we will have to see what happens as the week progresses.

I read into your statement Jad that SDR pulled out of running the event originally because it might rain?

They have your money either way.
I think that's what is meant by rain or shine event.

This is unbeleivable, Freakin Rain this weekend?? Again SDR is brilliant as a rain magnet...

I am also with Jad on this, rain tires or no rain tires the high speed oval would suck. Why not make an executive decision and run just the infield if it rains?? It would still be fun and a lot less dangerous.

Every event I have been to whether karting or PCA that has been rained out before the event begins, has provided a full refund, like at the last AX. Doesn't mean that is the case for this, but there would be a LOT of unhappy people if they didn't get a refund as has been the policy. Hopefully, we will never know......

I wonder what Calif Speedway's policy is? My guess would be rain or shine. I'll follow you Jad, your car is so wide it will keep most of the water off my car!

I think this would have been the appropriate place for the Capt Neptune photo :)

Maybe with a tow rope we can do some waterskiing?

Either way, wet or dry, you will be behind me, and every lap, it will be a little further behind....
