My best laps of the weekend. Unfortunately they were in practice and were almost 1/2 second faster than in timed runs.

Only two shifts per lap! :D Does Steve remove 1,2 and 5th ratios for less weight at this track? :rockon: Nice driving Mark.

Thanks. Shifting twice and staying in 4th from 6/7 to 3 meant all I had to do was focus on steering, gas, brake and prayers. Really disappointed that I ran my gas too low for timed runs and the engine stuttered coming out of 2 and 9 on my first hot lap. :banghead: I know there's a mid 1:31 there. Next time.

Very impressive, Mark. Your feedback on shift points was very helpful. I used them and picked up 1.5 seconds. But, I see from the video that you are carrying 5-7 mph more speed than me through 2 and 9. This was my first time at WSIR with the wing. So, next time...
- less angle on the wing,
- more left foot,
- bigger courage components.

1:31 next time? Wow! I'm rooting for you...

No wonder you are soooo slow :), do some work!

I have to go from 5th to 4th to 3rd into corner 1, then back to 4th, downshift to 3rd for corner 2 entry, hit 4th midway through 2, back to 3rd for 3-4-5, hit 4th for corner 6, 5th for 7 & 8, back to 4th for 9, and back to 5th for the front straight.

Your shifting pattern is more like the norm....at least for me. Mark, driving thru 8&9 in 4th is analogous to driving a PDK! :roflmao: For me coming out of 8, slight brake/down shift to 4th and entering 9 is one of the most difficult sequences on any of our tracks..... I'm just saying :D

Ya, it is...I went off between 8 and 9 working that sequence while doing a 100+...what a rush!

I'm old, fat and lazy. I don't want to work that hard. :P Low horsepower, flat torque curve, decent grip with wing and skinny (ish) tires = less shifting at that track. I'm not opposed to shifting more, I just don't see any advantage in complicating it. I'm below 6800 rpm between 8 and 9 and it makes it a lot easier to just brake enough to scrub speed and set the car. I used to shift a lot more and went a lot slower. :lol:

Interesting -- not sure that would work for my gearing.

I'm closer to Jad's pattern, although I didn't try dropping to 3rd at 1. Held 4th from 1 through 2 to 3, down to 3rd through 5, up to 4th right before the crest, 5th right before 7, then flat (ish... will bring the larger cojones next trip) through eight, light tap of brake down to 4th in the straight area before 9, hard on the gas as early as possible in 9 and up to 5th just before start/finish. Might try 3rd in 1 and into 2 next time.

Man that was fun!

Whatever your excuse I am glad you kept your barely a CC09 car within 2 seconds of my maxed out in CC09 car time.
Don't know how many more times I can hear. "So you built a faster car and sold it to a faster driver; in your class... ".

Thanks. It's a REALLY good car. As for why you sold it to me...it probably seemed like a good idea at the time. I know that I'm glad you did.

You can always jump up to CC10... :mrgreen:

I think the afternoon heat and wind (outside the car, that is) made things a bit slower.

I didn't have he luxury of leaving it in 4th gear before Turn 8 and on the main straight - needed the two upshifts to 5th. :surr:

My timed laps were good enough for top-ten, but not nearly as fast as Brother Mark (guess I'm just half-fast). :roll:

Snickers with his puny stock 3.0 Liter and an extra 80 lbs of ballast managed to take me to an overall win in the 18 lap race (with corded tires no less)! :D

All the aero on some of those wider 911s seemed to slow them on the straights.

My most difficult Big Willow shift was T6 the crest where the car gets light, negative Gs.
The most comfortable way was to short shift up a gear before the T6 crest.
Flying over the T6 crest at high rpm then up shifting when the car landed gained me a couple car lengths.
