Class changes for 2015

So who got bumped in class like me from the new rules?
Weight rule change bumped me from CC08 to CC09 in the 914.
So I read the rules "Adam Gill style" and made significant changes in the car to bring it back down and landed in a lower class...

Anybody else have a class change story to tell?

I won't run there, but my car went from CC09 to CC10 due to the new 20-point penalty for 200 treadwear tires.
I'd have to buy R-comps to be competitive.
I'm staying in SS04 for sure, now.
TT

I love the "Gill style" reference. Haters gonna hate!
Based on the manufactured weight of a car, that change from 2.5 % to 1.5% of free weight could add up. Even though it was only a 25lb difference, it almost bumped me up to CC 12. Fortunately I had some extra points and snuck in "Rondeau Style" BARELY staying in CC 11
3 years ago I believe El Diablo would have been CC12, now it is almost back in the original class. What were the changes that reduced most cars one class 3 years ago?
Like my kindergarten teacher said, thanks for sharing!!

Well, I haven't hit the scales yet but I suspect I will have to leave my right seat in the car for timed runs. My curb weight is close to min. and I only have 4 pts to play with.

After careful perusal of the new rules and taking full advantage of the flexible nature of said rules, I'm dropping a class and running in CC08 with no points to spare.

I"ll take the "Adam Gill" reference as a compliment...I think???

If Cupcake's engine wouldn't have let go at Chuckwalla and I didn't make any changes to the car I would have had to add 5 points for weight and 20 for 200tw tires. That would have bumped me from top of cc3 to middle of cc4. My plan was to add stiffer/lowering springs for 30 points and then add a little ballast to get me to the top of cc4 for 2015.

Things have changed now as the need for a new engine means a few other changes while I'm at it. I'll be working on hp/wt and dyno points now so won't really know what class will be "best" until I get the new motor in and know where I stand. I'll pick my tire tw/size package once I know the rest of the equation. I suspect I'll have a decently competitive CC5 or 6 car when it's all done. Now I just to find the time to get it all done :surr:

After doing some research I have found out the original tire size on my 85 944 was 215/60 15. I'm running with NARROWER 205/50/15, no wonder it felt like I was driving on ice.

I'm confused .
Again .

How do they determine , or I know , what my car should weigh ?

I had mine on the corners scales last year just to see how my balance compared to a c2 , so I'll have to find the receipt to see what it weighs now .
It weighs less than a normal c4s as it came from the factory with gt2 seats , but I figured I'd put the weight back on when I fitted the cage .

Ian,

My understanding has always been that the weights used in the Z8 rules for each model (see http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/ViewModels.aspx) are derived from the "curb weight" as published in the factory specifications for each model. "Curb weight" includes all fluids and accessories such as spare tire, tools, etc. There can be quite a bit of variation from these numbers according to how a car is optioned. For instance, the weight for a 2010-2012 Cayman S is given as 2976 lbs. in the table referenced above. My heavily optioned car with full fluids weighs 3200 lbs. I could take hundreds of pounds out of the car and still make the legal weight for the CC classes.

If you are talking about weighing your 2009 997 Carrera 4S Coupe, the table gives a weight of 3263 lbs. You are allowed to weigh 1.5% less than that now, with full fluids, or 3214 lbs., if I'm calculating correctly.

YMMV, and anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.
TT

Tuffy is still in CC03 with points to spare. Once we get back from our big trip in May, hopefully I'll be running in some events. :D
