2015 Board Installation

The future--demonstrated in one photo. Keith is talking. Dan has his plotting-an-overthrow look. Bruce and I look so studious. Javier Varon is thinking "get on with it, man." Rick is just happy as always and Jim is thinking "glad I've passed the torch."
A great crew and I am honored to be a part of the team.

See ya!

Open letter from Two (fairly) New chapter members,

For those of you NOT in attendance, the dinner party was great. Good food. Good companionship. Good times. You weren't there? So sorry you missed it.

Otherwise: have no fear. Yes: there was seriousness of purpose as reflected in this line up and the looks in their eyes - each person thinking: "Holy Moly...what have I signed up for!!??" But No: before and after the ceremonies did anyone express regrets?? No. Each and every key club member leader came across as committed and happy for the chance to contribute. When it comes to San Diego PCA chapter leadership: we truly are blessed.

But....

Clubs are an interesting social phenomenon. Run by "volunteers" yet often possessing valuable assets in terms of $$, legal and economic "things" (timing gear, trailers, volunteers time value per their regular occupation, etc.), "clubs" in practice and principle exist to support many of our most cherished interests and are one of our free society's most valuable assets. They are social/economic entities existing based on common interests, but perhaps most importantly: TRUST.

We trust our club's leaders to well-represent us. But never to forget: they trust US - you - me - us - to help them by following through to help them fulfill their titular obligations.

Our chapter's leaders are super-special people. In fact: they are SO super special because - modesty aside - they recognize that apart from their individual commitments, very much of their success depends on the rest of us stepping up to offer our mental and physical help when it comes to achieving the Chapter's goals; goals so important for each and every one of our Club's activities. As the saying goes: do the right thing. Even if only for a weekend or single event, if you can help...please: speak up.

Sara is coordinating our volunteer contributions this year; and each and every one of our activity leads (DE, concours, autocross, etc.), would love to have YOU, YOURSELF, and ME stepping up to help out while letting her know of our willingness to do so.

"The more we put in; the more we get out."

Yipes: does a corny saying I got from my grandmother actually apply in this year: 2015??!!

Vamos a ver....

Hey, attend the dinner dance next year. You'll enjoy it!! Now then, the one remaining issue: tuxedos. Yes? No? I have one and I love wearing it. But I didn't. That said: yes, "he" looked great so-dressed. But: don't tall guys always look great no matter what they're wearing??

Otherwise....

Nuff said, other than to stress: when it comes to car clubs, we members of the PCA San Diego community are truly blessed. Our Porsche automobiles are at the core of our blessings. But (as much as we love ours, and we're sure you love yours as well) the cars are mechanical "things" dressed in metal, plastic, leather, rubber and such. The fellowship of Porsche owners and drivers is what turns mechanical bits and pieces into living experiences...never tired; always remembered.

Just for our time in SoCal: Bev, Jim, Keith - we salute you. Car enthusiasts, cat herders, dream weavers: you're the best.

Great dinner dance. Kudos to both the out-going and in-coming leaders!

Cool post, Jim.

It was a great dinner! And you'll never catch me in a Tux at one of these, no way.

Now I have to wait till next year for another one...and very cool band, BTW!
