Subject: Rennsport Reunion V Update - Date Change

Date: January 23, 2015 14:04:25 PM PST

Hello Porsche Family and Friends:

As the subject of this e-mail states, we’ve taken the unpleasant but necessary step(s) to move the date for Rennsport Reunion V, resolving the conflict with the World Endurance Championship (WEC) race in Fuji.

The new date is two weeks earlier, September 25 – 27, 2015.

I assure you the decision was not made lightly. We understand many of our enthusiastic fans have already made their hotel reservations, travel and vacation plans based off the earlier date. However, the fact that our 919 Hybrid LMP1 and 911 RSR teams, along with the factory works drivers and engineers that go with them can now attend our greatest celebration was just too powerful to ignore.

As we checked for alternative availability, rumors began circulating, especially in the past week and we wanted you to hear it from us first. There will be an official press release distributed shortly after 6:00 pm, EST today.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking forward to seeing you all, more than ever, in Monterey in September!

Warm regards,

Dave

Someone be honest. What are you expecting to pay to attend this event? We can't make this year, but in all honesty, we'd like to know what a budget for such an event might be. Hotel, events, (not to worry about the drive to/from), anything else? Budgeting with a couple in mind. To the nearest thousand would be fine. Thanks.

It won't get any cheaper

Not sure when or where the next one will be, could be back at Laguna or COTA or ?? and travel will be more than a drive to Monterey.

Corral tickets for 3 days is $130 including admission + another $100 for second person for 3 day package
Lodging can run anywhere from around $100 a night (Salinas) to several hundred (high end Monterey)

It can be done quite inexpensively or you can have Premier Row Pit Suites for $510 per person, you make the call

Got it. Thanks, Greg. I have a work/car nut friend who owns a house in Salinas but for some reason he refuses to kick out his long-term rental tenants so that PCAers can use the house for a few days. And he actually owns at least four Porsches (two 912s, a 944, and G50 trans Carrera) that I know about, and a VW Thing to boot. Economic logic and common sense trumps Porsches. Oh well.

With the future in mind, my feeling is that the way to enjoy and do this type of event is to pal up with some friends from our chapter and make it a "group" social event. In this context, a few bucks one way or the other is less of an issue because the real pay off is the experience. Anyway, that's my thinking for the future. Thanks again,

Jim

Hey John, thanks for the compliment on the racing video. Along with Powell and Rickard, we are in for sure at Rennsport. You and I had spoken about circling the SDR attendees and having some extra curricular activity up there. When the time comes...point me in the right direction, so we can make it happen. Gonna be GREAT!

Hey John,
Cindy and I are in for the drive up to Monterey. That Guards red 993 is screaming to go for a little trip up north. Keep us informed as to a caravan up.
It could be a very long time before we see Rennsport again this close to San Diego.

Bruce, that's awesome! Love that car. Hey where are you and Cindy staying? From a Treasurer 's standpoint, what do you think about a PCASDR Rennsport Happy Hour?

Yeah, if you've never been there, you gotta go! It's PORSCHE OVERLOAD. Just seeing the collection of Porsche race cars is impressive, but watching the big flat-12s and turbos thunder around Laguna is off-the-hook. Here's some photos and videos of the 2011 event:

Admission is pretty reasonable. You just need to find a place to stay somewhere within driving distance. Make sure to be there all of both days, because there is a lot of stuff to see...
