Let's compare straight away speeds June 20 AX

Well, that has to be the longest straight away start I have ever done. I cannot believe the speed of these modern Porsche down the starting straight away, esp. the GT3! I am curious what speeds and times were achieved before you hit the brakes.

2012 Miata
180HP, 2510 lbs
Hit 65pmh at 10 seconds then tapped the brakes to take the left hander.

That is depressingly slow. Maybe I should get into a P-Car again. I had a 2001 Boxster-S for 4 years.

Robert,

Great idea for this survey.

I'll add my info as a mid-powered P-car:

On my best lap I hit 79mph at 7.8 seconds after standing start (or about 5.4 seconds after tripping the start timing lights).
(The stats are from my lap timing app RaceChrono on Android using a Garmin GLO external GPS)

I'm in a 2014 Cayman S:
325HP, weighs approx 3050 lbs (as optioned, with 1/2 fuel, no driver)

I'm anxious to hear the GT3 speeds too. I rode a couple of laps with Rick Levenson in his new GT3, and man did that pull hard all of the way down the front straight.

Right around 80 mph before hitting the brakes for the first time. That's from the car's info display.

That's a Cayman GTS with 340HP, PDK Sport Plus automatic. The last run of the day I used a Launch Control start. I didn't remember to check the max speed and didn't log data, but if I had to guess, most of the difference with the launch control probably meant I tripped the start timing lights going maybe 3 mph faster than without Launch Control, and probably made very little difference at the top end.

No speedometer or data acquisition but according to gear and RPM data about 65-70 MPH.
914 2.0L
1875 lbs. (w/driver) and 120 HP.

Unfortunately the Harry's Lap Timer app I was using let me down from the beginning and it never recorded any data :banghead: Further, I was too busy trying to keep from winding up on the 15 south so I never glanced at the speedo. That was fast though!

Thanks to all for setting up a really fun track :D Now I just need to figure our how to drive it as fast as all of you guys in front of me on the results list

I didn't look at my speedo as it would be just too depressing, but if I had to guess I'd say about 37 mph ha ha
I was yanking on the oars as hard as I could to do 15s in a stock 944 as it was :banghead:

No data and I haven't looked at my video yet which will show GPS speed, but I would say mid 3rd gear would be about 70-75 mph. 1979 911 SC, 3.2L, 2650 lbs with driver and 176 rhwp (Dyno'd on 6/19/15) on RA1's. I'll edit with accurate numbers when I get a chance to review video.

Topped out at 68 on my fastest lap. Topped out at 71 on a lap that I screwed up on.

First time driving since Steve G rebuilt the motor. Damn, it feels good.

Thanks!

S2000, 2720lb with driver, 185-190ish rwhp... straightaway speeds varied wildly, saw 68 once with a no-sympathy 6500rpm launch.

A drag car it is not

I didn't set up and use RaceChrono on Saturday so I don't have any GPS calculated speeds or times. I only have approximate speed by RPM. I got close but never hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear. That would put me around 70 mph.

2009 2.9L Cayman 6mt
Porsche says 265 HP at the crank
Weight from a recent corner balance was 3000 lbs (3220 w/driver)

1st time at an AX with the new suspension. :D :o

Quite a fun and challenging track. Much thanks to the entire AX team that keeps doing such great work to put these events on. :beerchug:

Considering this was on the east lot, this track was not bad. I liked the first half of the track the most and I think with less 180 style turns on the second half, I would have liked that too. :D

I don't know the top speed, but here is the on-board video from my fastest lap.

I pegged the rev limiter in second, right before braking, which should put me in the 74 MPH neighborhood.

I thought it was a pretty good track for the SE lot. I did hit the 2nd gear rev limit in a 2010 pdk Cayman and seemed to have a couple of seconds in 3rd before a lift and downshift for the left. But no hard speed data.
It was a great beginning for the lap! Plus all the cars sounded GREAT next to all temp seating sitting adjacent. It bounced off and was LOUD. I worked station 1 and the GT-3's and turbos sounded awesome!

Kudos for the entire AutoX team!!

Took Martin's video and combined it with my in-car video.

Side-by-side of TTOD run on left with #2 driver on right. (Not the #2 run; this is a run that's about a second off the pace.)

My top speed was 63 mph in the grey RSR, before my alternator conked out. The run was a 1:12.75
