914 cap group buy

Postby Petunia777 on Thu Jul 09, 2015 2:41 pm

Hi, all. Mike Miller and I recently designed and had two 914 caps made up for ourselves and posted some pics in the forums on 914 World. We got a lot of interest on 914 World from other 914 fans who also wanted them, so we decided to try to come up with a group buy for the caps.

Here's the link to the thread on 914 World which displays pics of the hats we got: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=259499

Here's the deal:

1) The hats will be offered in two color schemes, as in these pix. But, we'll make the blue 914 car outline (on the beige hat) more of a true shade of blue rather than teal/turquoise.

2) We need a MINIMUM of 50 hats total ordered, and a MINIMUM of 12 in each color ordered.

3) The hats are high quality cotton, with a size-adjustment buckle in the back. One size fits most. The car outline and 914 are embroidered.

4) Please realize that I am just Jane Schmoe, not a retail vendor, and have no way to accommodate "special" orders/requests.

5) Price: $25 per hat plus $2 each to defray our packaging, mailing, and Paypal fees.

6) Continental US only. Sorry, we are not able to mail out of the US at this time. Perhaps in the future we can see about accommodating our international 914 aficionado friends.

So, to see if we can generate enough orders to reach the required 50, please send the following info to me (Sara Gengler) at: jems2junque@yahoo.com

a) Number of hats total.

b) Number of each color.

c) Your name, your 914 World, Facebook, or PCASDR screen name, email address, shipping address, and phone number.

If we get the required minimum of 50 orders, I will email each of you with Paypal payment details and get the hats ordered. Once I've ordered them, I'm told they should be created and shipped to me within 1 and 1-1/2 weeks. I will then ship them all on to you. :burnout:

With all due respect, just where on the hat (perhaps inside?) is the VW logo highlighted??
:roflmao:

Yeah...I was there...way back then...

OK, I recognize that the 914 model earned its stripes over the years (for SURE come the 6 cylinder engine)...but isn't if fun to remember the bad old days when VW sold a "certain" mid-engine sports car in Europe. Oh, the happy days when I used to pummel my cousin in Goleta with VW jokes because he had a 914 "Porsche" while the rest of us were focused on 912s and 911s,

:burnout:

Hmmm. Come to think about it, he hasn't spoken to me in over 40 years.

Can't we all just forgive, forget and be friends???

Public apology for being so snarky...especially given that the idea and in particular the logo design and color choices are so perfect. The part about my cousin is true :(

That said: you are offering me the perfect peace offering for righting old wrongs. Please put us down for one hat of each color choice. The sooner a purchase can be arranged, the better. We have to do a family visit to Goleta. Literally arriving "hat in hand" will do wonders, for sure. Email to follow.

Thanks.

Dear Mr. Ancient Curmudgeon,

Thank you for your offer to purchase two very stylish 914 caps currently on offer for a limited time in a group purchase. These high quality caps are in very high demand. However, we are unable to honor your order at this time due to your 45-year history of denigrating this superlatively-designed and unparalleled-performing Porsche, which is also widely recognized as the premier
Volkswagon in the history of the company.

Further, after careful consideration and consultation with my fellow 914 model Porsche aficionados (and your cousin in Goleta), you have been banned from the North American NARP (Not a Real Porsche) Society indefinitely. The NA-NARP Society, an exclusive organization dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of the 914 model Porsche, concurs that your contrite apology on this forum is insufficient to grant absolution in this class action case.

If you would like to further educate yourself regarding the exemplary qualities of the 914 model Porsche and discuss your enlightenment with the officers of the North American NARP Society, please contact NA-NARP via 914 World, the largest online 914 model Porsche community at http://www.914world.com/

Sincerely,
Ms. Jane Schmoe

Wait just a minute here, Ms. Schmoe...overlooking that logic says instead I should be eternally damned to be a lifetime member of NotARealPorsche (NARP), what if I change my mind? A parting thought: are you aware that a VW engine will bolt up perfectly to the (Porsche, wink-wink) transmission bell housing of any 914?? Sorry, sorry...I got carried away. Of course 914s are Porsches and anyone driving one is my new best friend. Please sell me the hats. Please?

Jim,
You should really rent yourself out as a well digger.
I have never seen anyone dig a hole so fast even when they are trying to fill it.
I wish I could have seen Sara writing her response and see how many versions she had to delete before pressing submit.

BTW- A VW engine will bolt up to your 85 Carrera.
It's called a 912e.
And a 993 engine will bolt up to a 914 transmission but not to your 2011 911.
Food for thought...

This is probably your best game plan...

Hi, gang! Congratulations! I am pleased to announce that we have hit our minimum of 50 caps total order, as well as our minimum of 12 caps in each of the two colors. Therefore, the close of this opportunity to get in on this group buy will be this coming Friday, July 17th at noon. If you still want to get in on this group buy and haven't done so yet, follow the instructions above before this coming Friday at noon. Soon I will be emailing each of you with Paypal payment details. Once I've ordered the hats, I'm told they should be created and shipped to me within 1 to 1-1/2 weeks. I will then ship them all on to you without delay.

Steve scored me perfectly. My favorite college summer job was, literally, digging ditches and chopping weeds: finished back there; working right here; going over there next...under the El Paso, Texas summer sun. Very physically and psychologically satisfied. Body building exercise. Plenty of time to let the mind wander into the realms of Einstein and Goethe while still being busy. Loved it!

Now do I get the hats, or not??!!

Pretty please??

Dear Mr. Digger:

Had you sent this emoticon  I would have seriously considered honoring your request. However, you didn't; therefore, I will confer with my colleagues and advise you at my earliest convenience.

So...pretty please didn't work. Never the loser, yesterday I snuck by Sara's house and grabbed the "oh so trusting" cat. Heh, heh. Sweet creature...for a cat. Rust and white. Talkative. Settled in here at our house and who knows, might overcome my need for two hats (needed to make peace with my cousin in Goleta). On the other hand, if my hat order is accepted I'll be happy to return the cat. Eventually. Heh, heh....

Here Kitty, Kitty....
