Cupcake version 2.0

After almost a year since Cupcake spun a rod bearing due to oil starvation at Chuckwalla, she is finally back together and better than before. It's been a fun process taking the car apart and executing my vision, I have learned a lot spending countless late nights in the garage. She made a brief appearance at the last ax to shake things down and work out some bugs. She is no longer a BRI focused car but overall performance will be a bit better and should be a good top ten ttod ax car. CC7 here I come!

See you all at a track event soon ;).

Nice to see Cupcake back. I keep thinking I should build something like this since I want to stay under 2500lbs and just need some more HP for those PCA Straights.

What tires are you planning to run?

If there were an emoji with a number "1" behind some crosshairs I might be inclined to use it.... Looking forward to dicing it up with you and the rest of our new CC7 friends.

My timed run weight will be under 2500 and it really makes a difference in the driving experience compared to something over 3000 pounds. Not to mention it reduces tire and break wear considerably.

I will be running re71r, 245f/255r for big track and then put the 255s up front for ax.

Oh my, was that a cake-baking glove I just heard hit the floor? Don't count out Ralph who has keen driving chops and a very well prepared car with a ton of grip.

While you, Ralph, and Mark are out there dicing it up in your tricked-out, lightweight hot rods, I will be lumbering along in my nearly bone stock, air conditioned, 3000 lb, full leather couch on wheels. She won't be fast but she is pretty inside and out. I need to buy stock in 3M blue tape.

We'll see what happens. While Adam and Ralph are running on monster tires, I'll be running 225 front and rear (bicycle tires) and trying to keep up with them. I'm trying out a few different combinations to find the optimum class for my car. I hope I can post some decent times and not embarrass myself too much.

Adam, that's good news. It's nice to get back to the track after being down. Been there, done that more times than I wish to admit. I'm happy for you that you're back in the saddle so quickly. Sweat equity pays.

As for competing in CC-07, you'll be in fine company with the aforementioned drivers. Linares is a sleeper who's beaten or nearly beaten the best drivers in the club (he's not allowed to drive certain other people's cars because he drove them faster than their owners!), Ol' Smilin' Dave will appear in your mirrors out of nowhere as if he were dropped from a spaceship, and definitely don't let Rondeau fool you with his poorly veiled excuses about skinny tires on his freshly-built "cheater"-engined Silver Bullet (2.XX Liter? How many HP?!?!?). You're gonna be very busy in CC-07. Watch your mirrors, they're gonna be full.

.... Yes, let the smack-talk begin!

What? Vintage, low hp, outdated rear engine with skinny tires against modern, light weight, higher hp, mid engine with fat tires. I don't have a chance. :bigcry:

CC 07 is getting very popular. Steve G could mount street tires and Danny H could run 275 R7s. it would get real interesting out there.

Dan - yes, I will be checking my mirrors often and likely be giving plenty of point-by's on Saturday as I get used to the car and assess if there are any mechanical concerns. Hopefully, if everything goes well I can get down to business on Sunday and give CC7 a run for it's money.

I heard Rondeau has been eating only salads for the last month so I know he must be motivated because he is one serious carnivore :P

I'm sure Dave has a bullseye on Cupcake since she beat him straight up in a heated CC3 (Cupcake) vs his CC5 red boxster in Cupcake's first time to a big track.

Ralph is just too nice to talk smack about...and, he introduced me to Cardiff Crack which I am forever grateful for so I am gonna tend to be nice to him.
