Hi guys, I'm a transplant from the Metro NY PCA region. I was hoping someone knew how Zone 8 PCA classifies Porsche's with non Porsche engine swaps. I am traveling right now and have limited email, so haven't been able to ask a Zone 8 rep. Hoping to make the Nov 29th event so id like to know before i register.

The car in question is my '88 944T that now has an LS1 under the hood; i know its blasphemy, a Porsche with a GM engine! I promise my '88 911 will please the purists though .

I filled out the classification on the Zone8 page and with how the car is setup came up with a little over 900 points which puts me into CC14. I was wondering though if i would be bumped into an x-class instead due to the engine swap?

Classing was a bit different in MetroNY and Zone1, i was classed in M03 which was basically the highest modified class. I am mostly going just for fun and to hone my driving, so i am not really all that concerned about season points.

PCA Zone 8 Rules dictate that only cars with Porsche chassis' AND engines are allowed in CC classes (SS classes are reserved for late model cars in essentially stock configuration), so your car would be classed as an "X" class car.

Current rules can be found here: http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/current.php

X class is where the cool people hang out :burnout:

But in all seriousness, we have a pretty dedicated group of X class competitors, you won't be lacking for people to chase, be chased by. or discuss the intricacies of smallblock valve geometries with :D

Thanks for the clarification guys. Still debating if i will attend this one as i have a feeling the car will exceed the 93dB limit. The plan was to quiet the car down anyhow to eventually make the trek to Laguna Seca but i wont have time to add another muffler on for a few weeks.
