C2 Motorsports GONE! Nooooo

Called their number, nothing. Stopped by their store, all packed up and gone. Checked out their facebook, seems like they've gone out of business.

:( This place was my absolute go-to place for tire mounting/balancing, as well as a great local racing supply store for brake fluid, etc etc...

I'm lost.. anybody have good suggestions for a decent local business that does quality tire services and sell racing supplies like C2 did?

Thanks everyone!

Best,
Lee

Sadly, they were gone around November 1, 2015. See this thread for info on who bought their tire mount/balance equipment (JBA):

If you use ATE Gold or Motul brake fluid you have two options in that area still;

Northside Imports - 4955 Mercury St, San Diego, CA 92111 : They have ATE Gold in stock and its actually cheaper than buying off Amazon (even with prime shipping).

Pann Auto - 7960 Ronson Rd, San Diego, CA 92111 : They carry the full Motul lineup and also Redline oils. Not sure how the Motul pricing was but Redline oil was $1-2 cheaper / qt than buying off Amazon.

Keith,
Thanks for that info (JBA). I'll give them a try on their tire services. I just cringe at the idea of letting high school kids work on my good wheels at discount tire...

Techno,
I use Motul, so I'll give Pann Auto a shot. Mucho gracias!

For tire mounting and balancing, I got turned onto a place years ago by a local SCCA autocrosser who was sponsored by them for a while.

http://www.bearstires.com/

I've had nothing but good experiences there, and I've had them mount low profile race tires (Hoosier 285/30R18) on my custom CCW wheels in addition to other more mundane jobs like new minivan tires. It seems that when I go in with the difficult jobs, I always seem to get the same tire tech -- he's probably the best and most experienced guy there.

I second the recommendation for Bears Tires. They are great. They service a LOT of the racers and AX crowd. Tom is one of the managers. Let them know that the Porsche club crowd sent you there.

if you live in North County, try Service Specialists on Yarrow near Palomar McClellan airport.

Ask for Paul

The quality go-to local business are invaluable, and it's always a pain when you lose them off your list. But here, it looks like we have a few great choices to add back to that list! Awesome recommendations you guys. :D

It is really sad to see a shop like C2 closing up.
Do you want to know why? On-line competition.
I talked with Ron at length in their last few days and he said that was the #1 reason.
Guy comes in and spends hours trying out seats, helmet and a suit and then goes home and orders it on line.
So when shopping for stuff on-line check around to see if the local shops can match the pricing.
This is why I prefer to use places like Tarett and Bilstein as opposed to other suspension places as they are local.

But on the race supply front the list of SDR Tech stations is a great place to start.
http://www.pcasdr.org/competition/tech-inspection/

I was just talking to Jae at Mirage bout this and between him and us over at Black Forest we have most of the fluids and lubricants plus lots of race gear and supplies; plus Saturday hours. Think globally, buy locally. Any of the tech stations should be more than willing to hook you up.

Good luck and see you at the track.
