I am posting a link to 2 YouTube videos here. One of my runs, and one of my student's (Kevin) runs during timed runs.

The first is a good run of mine from timed runs (guess I got a cone on this run somewhere). I loved the first elements of the course! The turnaround at the end is always a pain (nothing for that), and the run across the top and then the left, right, left was fun (always seems to be great up there).

This was Kevin's first auto cross (he did the PDS), and his first Porsche (nice 2006 997 Carrera S Manual --> so much better than a PDK!). He was really excited and loved the atmosphere and friendly people. We got him all the way down to a 1:27:09 by the time we finished.

Nice video, JGW, very smooth and precise driving for such a quick lap. A 1:27 for your student was very respectable for a newbie, too. I have to thank you for coning away those 1:16 laps--there's no way I could have won without that! You've got that GT4 working really well.

Good luck in the Pro Solo at El Toro!

Nice video James! That is also a great time for your student, I'm sure from the beginning of the day compared to timed runs, he shaved off a lot of time. Here's a video from my best timed runs lap (1:19.58) As always, had a blast trying to get this Ole SC through the cones quickly. :D

^ The two guys who beat me in raw time, and the one guy who beat me in BRI...

I don't have a video. Just, "good driving!"

It was a course that seemed to really reward having a plan -- not just looking ahead, but actually thinking about the course even when not driving. I didn't have a student, but I did a fair bit of right-seat coaching for a relatively experienced guy, and I think our discussions about line and braking points and where to look ahead really helped me put the whole lap together in my head.

Jack, your course analysis is spot on! Lots of compromise in the tricky sections, to stay on line and set yourself up for the areas were you could push harder.

I do also have to give a shout out to John Richard at Black Forest for letting me use a set of his loner, 8 " rear wheels. :beerchug:

Erik, nice driving. Judging from your steering and throttle inputs, I thought it was a nice run. What tires are you running? Getting used to that narrow body, small brakes and massive oversteer?

Thanks Mark! Oh yea, I'm right at home in a 911 :D (Memories of Dad's 84' Carrera with a 3.6L are still fresh 8) ) I was running RE71's, my street /practice tires are RE11's, and these RE71's, definitely had a little more grip, I'd say they are worth 1 - 1.5 Seconds over an RE11.

Here's a couple of my videos:

My fastest lap:

My last lap hanging the rear end out a bit:

I wanted to go home after my first lap. The track seemed so bumpy and I could not find rhythm.

By the end of the day I was having a blast!

Thanks to all the volunteers!

cheers,

Sean
