RE-71's on back order

Postby JayG on Tue Apr 12, 2016 7:29 am

I ordered some RE-71's and the rears are backordered until early may
Anyone have some unmounted ones in 255/40-17 I can swap for the ones I will be getting in a few weeks?

My rear tires are toast and I want to do the TT at Willow at the end of the month and won't pass tech with the rear tires I have now

I was waiting for this to happen...
When you cant get RE-71R's you can try Kumho V-720's.
Same idea, different maker. I have a set, just haven't used them in anger yet.

V-720's are out in 255/40-17's as well.
I posted as a general note that RE71's and CV-720's are a similar tire.

Now Tirerack is saying 5/7 for new orders of RE-71 in 255/40-17. When I ordered it was 5/2
They must be getting tons of orders with the $70 rebate

Jay,

Did you try Discount Tire? I ordered a set of 225/50/16's from them last week and they arrived the same day from their warehouse in LA. Same price as TR + mail-in rebate too.

Quality of their mounting leaves a bit to be desired...

Good luck,

Call Rich Truffa at Discount Tire in Poway and see if he can help you. He's always been more than fair with me and I get all my tires from him. (858)486-3600.

The problem is Bridgestone is out of stock at their warehouses, so unless someone has them in their companies warehouse, they ain't available
They are currently being manufactured with deliveries at the end of April/beginning of May at the earliest

Here is a set for sale. James lives in the LA area. He used them for the National Match Tour recently so they probably do not have a lot of runs on them, but you will have to check with him.

Another fast tire is the BFG Rival-S. Notice the "S" designation which distinguishes it from the regular Rival. Two S2000's placed 1st and 3rd at last weekends El Toro Pro Solo in the class I run in (STR). So now some of the STR drivers are going to start trying a set.

My comments apply to Autocross use. You will have to research to see if they make a good track tire. I recall reading something about regular Rival been better for track and Rival-S better for Autocross.

I just posted some virtually new 245/40/18 RE71Rs in the classifieds for sale. If anyone wants them they are in garage and ready to mount before this weekend!
