Changes for 2017 Zone 8 Rules and Car Classification Website

Postby rshon on Mon Dec 05, 2016 12:37 pm

A document that summarizes the changes to the Zone 8 Rules for 2017 and what steps members should take to reclassify those cars affected by next year's rules changes has been posted here:

http://www.zone8.org/assets/docs/2017/Rules/2017RuleChangeHighlights.pdf

Additionally, the Zone 8 Car Classification website has been updated to the preliminary release of the 2017 rules so that members may start to check their car classifications for the 2017 season. The car classification website can be found here:

http://zone8.pca.org/CarClass/default.aspx

Many thanks to Tom Brown for getting the website updated so early in the month. We are working on updates to the tech sheet printout feature, and the 2017 version should be available on the website in a couple of weeks.

Is the section of this rule in bold pretty much specifically designed to preclude the use of Bridgestone Re-71's (or similar) ?

cheers

Craig

SS Classes:
1) Starting in 2017 there are new restrictions on wheels and tires. Wheels must be factory wheels
available for cars in the model series; aftermarket wheels are no longer allowed. Tires must be
factory standard or option sizes for the model series (for more information on Model Series,
please see Appendix B of the Zone 8 Driving Event rules). OEM/N‐spec tires below 200 tread wear
are no longer allowed in SS classes. Non‐OEM/non‐N‐spec tires below 201 tread wear are no
longer allowed in SS classes.
