Used Transponder Purchase Locations

Postby Andrew Raines on Tue Dec 13, 2016 8:57 am

All,
I am looking to buy a transponder. I looked on Ebay and our classified site. I'm wondering if there are other locations for classifieds that I should be searching.

eBay is probably best overall. Rennlist, NASA or SCCA websites could be other options.
The new transponders are cheaper but on a subscription model, but since we are not using the AMB timing software or myLaps (for TT) I am not sure if they need to be subscribed to work with our timing software??
Might be worth buying one with just a year of service and see what happens after it expires. You could always subsribe again if it does not work out.

I found a nice hard-wired transponder for $200, the catch was I had to buy the 944 Spec car that it was attached to :roflmao:

Thanks to George Taylor (and Sean); Steve & I will be trying out the 944 Spec world soon in the Great Pumpkin

Yep, I have always wanted to do a 944 Spec car.
I really think this car/class teaches more about racing than any other for a fraction of the cost.
We will shake it down and fine tune it in the first two CVR events and then let Greg loose at his first CR at Fontana.
I think he is just really excited about a class finally based on car weight with driver!

Black Forest has gone 944 Spec crazy. First John Rickard and now Dave Quesnel and finally Me and Greg.
Shop smack talk is going to be thick at the Dec,22nd Christmas Party!

You will have to ask him. He is probably tired of hearing me questioning him on which spec drivers he is afraid of being beat by...
