have a question for you all, I am looking for a Motorsport equipment store in or around San Diego (or within 30-40 miles) that sells racing seats, harnesses, helmets etc. I know there are few in Orange County but looking for something closer so that I can visit often in person.
Thanks

While there have been several during the last couple decades, one of which I managed daily, it's become increasingly difficult for mom and pop stores to compete with the big online warehouses. It's going to take someone buying in big and stocking lots of items to draw enough local people to stay alive. Things like sales tax on a $1,000 driving suit is enough to make people shop out of state. Of course, this equation would be completely different if San Diego had a proper road racing course. :banghead:

Sadly C2 Motorsports shut down a couple years ago, which was run by some awesome SCCA racers.

There was some talk of JBA carrying some items, but I don't know if that ever happened and their website has nothing on there either. There are a lot of off-road shops here due to the desert/dunes proximity, so you could try them as well. But when I needed to buy new helmets for SDR AX equipment team last year, I had to go to the Internet....nothing local really in the helmet department. As you suggested, there are a couple in OC.

Grrr. I have pulled most of the track gear out of my 2001 Boxster S (including a pair of Sparco Evo L/Evo 2 racing seats, all the Brey-Krause hardware required to mount them, harness mounting hardware, and a BK Roll Bar extension).

I was hanging on to most of it in case I ever decide to switch the car back, but if you need it (and twist my arm) I'm sure my wife would love me to sell some or all of it at a reasonable price. PM me or shoot me an email at Russell@LightningMotorsports.US if you're interested...

Thanks all for your input, too bad we don't have a place to buy race stuff locally.

I've heard first hand reports that the stitching in the K1 racing suits isn't that great.
Yes , Auto power is good for cages, roll bars, cage padding, etc. They have their own brand of harnesses and harness hardware as well.

Highly recommend K1 driving suits in Carlsbad. Isabella has had a K1 driving suit for 3 years and still looks brand new. No issues with stitching color fading etc.

Thanks, I’ll keep above mentioned resources in mind if and when the need arises for cage work etc. I think I might have to make a trip to OC to look around products and fitment. I can also try buy known online distributes.
