A fun and interesting track layout with a lot of cones that were placed just to confuse, and rewarded the driver that could ignore the distraction and see just the line.
I must mention there were a couple of punishingly slow corners that seemed out of place with the rest of the track thus rewarding the good drag racers (big hp pdk cars)
This season is the first time I have run RE71R's, and I found out how many heat cycles they last - one LESS than I needed to go well in timed runs :banghead:
Till next time......

Great photos! thank you guys, and a fun event. Glad the weather let us play all day. AX team did a great job handling the logistics with such a small turn out.

As much as I would like a track to be a 90 cone continuous slalom :) , I have to say this was a very even track that played to old and New cars strengths, my car was right at home darting through the first half of the track. The straight away's towards the end with a tight turn leading onto them definitely allowed the new cars to shine. But that's what these events are all about, trying to get the most out of what you have, with any track configuration.

Here is my video of my best timed lap. Listen closely as I enter the last turn, I could have used a Nanny here  (can of worms opens..) haha.

I must say that in 17 years of driving old air-cooled cars w/ manual transmissions (901, 915 and G-50), I never considered downshifting to first gear on an AX course out of sympathy for the mechanical stress on the equipment, and it was rarely even a temptation. But with the PDK, it's just a simple, seamless pull on a paddle. :P

There were two turns on that course that begged for such a tactic and were probably worth a half a second each. Such a situation should be avoided in course design, IMHO. Otherwise, I really liked the layout and had a very fun time, touching third gear briefly for the first time in over a year, I think. Thanks to the whole AX team for a great event, and congrats to Alain Stad for his first TTOD award!
