Zone 8 Rules proposals

Postby Steve Grosekemper on Wed Apr 27, 2005 5:21 pm

For those of you who are not aware of how the competition rules work, there is a rules proposal page on the zone 8 website that allows you to voice opintions on rules changes for 2006 competition year.

http://www.pca.org/zone8/rules_discussi ... sPage1.htm

The proposals have been coming in and we have quite a list, 19 proposals to date.

Proposal deadline is 7-21-05 so there is a good 3 months left to add your ideas.

Then on 7-31-05 the comments page will be open for discussion.

Here is an example of some of the rules changes:
More refinement to s/s classes
Making stock a 0-8 point class
G-class to 944 only (kicking out those pesky 911s)
Adding a 13/13 rule policy
Expanded tire size penalty (Dan A. should read this one)
Changing the "R" classes
To name just a few...

Check these out and maybe you will come up with a proposal of your own. Don't be shy!

Only you can make this process work.

I think Tom Tweeds proposal about motor swaps in the early cars is a no brainer. It's the ONLY thing that makes sense. Take for example, a '72 911 T, E or S and pull the motor out and the cars are identical. Throw a 3.2 motor in the S and it's hardly any points at all, but throw the 3.2 in the T and it's like 97 points or something! According to PCA Zone 8, a 911T with a stock 3.2 in it should run in the American LeMans Series. :D

After the motor is removed, there is no difference between early 911's from the same year regardless of their initial T, E or S designation. POC's rules on the update/backdate possibilities of these cars have addressed this issue perfectly.

Also Gulf Blue and Gulf Orange combined on the same car should be 6 points! 8)

Thanks John, but this is Tom Tweeds proposal from last year and it wasn't accepted for some reason.

I'm going to submit it again this year, Curt, because I believe it makes sense. I did forget about adding the Gulf Blue and Orange paint penalty, and I think we also need something that bumps black SCs with 3.6 engines directly into AR...
