Now that we've got several months of 2018 club activities under our belt, it is Rules Proposal Season in Zone 8. If you have been participating in a Zone 8 Autocross, Time Trial, Concours, or Rally, now's your chance to submit rules change proposals for 2019.

The current Zone 8 Rules can be found here:

http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/current.php

The Zone 8 Rules Proposal process can be found here:

http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/proposed.php

It is important to include the following in your proposal:

1) Please tell us what the issue or problem is and what rule you believe should be changed to fix it. The most important concepts the Rules Committee needs are: What is going wrong. What is unfair, unsafe or otherwise broken. Who does it effect and how does it affect them.

2) If possible, please propose suggestions for changing the rule(s) in question. Providing data and analysis of results is always very helpful in supporting your suggestion.

3) Describe how the proposed rule changes would fix the problem and/or addresses the situation. In addition to clearly stating what you see is a problem, you must clearly demonstrate how and why your proposal resolves the situation. Please use data and explain your reasoning in a clear and logical manner. Often rule proposals are rejected because the Rules Committee does not understand the author's description of the problem or what the proposal is trying to do or change. Another frequent cause of rejection is when the proposed change doesn't appear to address the issue presented.

Please send your submission to ruleproposals@zone8.org. The deadline for submitting proposals is June 30, 2018.

NOTE: Discussing possible proposals on bulletin boards DOES NOT qualify as the submission of a proposal to the Rules Committee, and expressing your views here WILL NOT guarantee that it is admitted as an official comment. Also, lobbying support for or against a particular proposal on a bulletin board WILL NOT strengthen your case.

How do folks feel about seeing modern car brake lights on the race track modified by the new flasher units???
My first experience with them was @ CFOS
Due to the age of my car, can I attach road flares to my front splitter??? :surr:

“N” (as in “Nanny”) was chosen as it can be created easily with just
three pieces of tape.

This is an interesting path.

If this passes, I wonder if Z8 will be seen as;
Surely curmudgeons?
or
Forward thinking,proactively planning club members
or
Both?

Since electronic "Nannies" have been in all Porsche's since at least 2002, the letter 'N' should actually stand for NORMAL.

For example, Rick Levenson car which is also classified as a CC16 car but the car is a full-blown race car built at a race shop that weights 700lbs less then the GT3RS and has 2 turbos total points adding up to 1258 (188 pts over the GT3RS with better tires) which does not feel like a fair playing field.

Ad Hominem! Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

I think the rule link was missing a page.....the one that explicitly states that because you are faster than me it must be the car. Scarlet A's for all the cheaters. And trophies for everyone, but some with N's.

When I used to be active in SCCA, there were classes from A Stock, B Stock, all the way down through H Stock.

Once in a while, somebody would come along and complain about classing -- a common reply was to suggest that the guy was looking for "I Stock"... "Really, what's that?"

"Oh, that's the class where I can win with my Stock car."

Well, the new 996 has ABS, so where do I get one of those cool new “N” stickers?

Along with the "N" stickers, buy some that say, "I really know how to drive, you don't."

No, apparently any nannies found in "Classic Porsches" will be exempt and since ABS started in 1986 in the 928 and 1989 in 911 it is grandfathered in along with electric starters, power brakes and synchromesh transmissions. :roflmao: :surr:

I don't know if I should start laughing or just come to the conclusion that "Certain" people don't want to see these GT/RS cars out on the track, which IMHO is a total shame since this is the BEST of what Porsche has to offer at this current time and it should be a pleasure and honor to drive along side them if you really are a Porsche lover!

You want to add 100 pts for RS cars because they have more down force which is a joke since we don't run high speed tracks other then CFOS that it would even come into play, and they are already in the highest CC16 class once you switch tires so what the hell will that solve?

We already have to go against cars like Rick's that are over 1250 pts which is 130 more pts then my car with Hoosiers on!

You want to add an N on the back of the car so as there driving by you it will make you feel better about yourself knowing your getting passed by an "N" car? :surr:

It is very obvious that most of these proposals were done by one person since they portrait the same format and has way to much time on their hands.

I really hope that people stop this BS by commenting to not pass these certain rules that only make a mockery of this hobby.

I am surprised he did not proposed to exclude us from the top 10 times of the day!

And oh yea.. Gear ratio being lower on an RS over a GT3 car... Where do you even come up with this stuff??

Left is 2016 RS ratios, right is 2016 GT3 ratios...

Know your facts before you make proposals like this trying to add 100 pts to us over GT3 cars :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Please remove any penalties for the GT3RS aero and nannies, and give this man a ribbon end of every competitive event. :beerchug:
