The Alliance of American Football (AAF) announced a San Diego team playing at SDCCU in the inaugural season. The season runs from Feb. 2019 > April 2019. Looks like we can have AX and PDS at least until April 2019.

So "SDCCU" stadium is our beloved Qualcomm? When/if we might have some/any indication that the parking lot(s) will be resurfaced??

Today I stopped by the BMW club's autocross event at the stadium. West lot. Everyone was having a great time. That said, there were some really bad surface issues that required corner workers to not just sweep away gravel, but also pick up and throw off line large chunks of broken pavement. I took a ride with one of their instructors (exciting!) and noticed the obvious: lots of bad surface issues. Not encouraging  .

The asphalt's not in great condition, but it's not the complete disaster it was last fall and winter, IMHO. The stadium has been patching some of the worst areas, which is tremendously good. Unfortunately, new "worst areas" keep popping up, and we're close to the end of the fiscal year, so the city's patching budget is close to being exhausted.

At the BMWCCA event we tested some water-curing asphalt patching that one of our members brought that morning. We applied it at about 8am and by 9am it was ready to go. It held up well to being in sort-of on-line spot (outer tires on the patch maybe 40% of the time), which was encouraging to say the least.

Looks like our concrete paradise might be secure through about 2020:

“Terms presented to council on Monday were the same, however, with the university’s top brass recommitting their intention to help book additional revenue-generating concerts and events for SDCCU Stadium and the surrounding parking lot.”
