Time to review the proposals for rule changes for 2020.

Please look at them here and get me feedback by the end of the month.

Thanks

I have an objection to Proposal #4 - the Springs and Wings section.

I went through a lot of trouble to get factory in-series springs for my base Cayman so that I would stay in CC07. This proposed rule change would push me into CC08 due to the extra five points. To stay in CC07, I would need to ditch my exhaust to re-gain the 5 point penalty being suggested. I'm sure there are other folks who would also object to this. I spent probably double on my genuine Porsche springs vs aftermarket specifically with this rule in mind. In series is now 15 points, aftermarket such as H&R is a 30 point hit. They are trying to blend it to a 20 point hit.

Either that or grandfather in cars that were put together before the rule change.

Thanks.

Well, that one is a very interesting proposal.

I was also planning this spring change to my 2006 Cayman S, but I will certainly wait this ruling out.

My car is currently running H&R springs and I was considering making the move to Cayman R springs, in order to gain some more points to play with at the top of CC08 classification for monoballs, tire size jump, etc.

While I agree this can be hard to visually identify for the tech team, I am not sure this would even be checked unless there was a challenge/complaint filed.

Interesting stuff, as I can certainly see a lot of differing perspectives on this issue.

Chris, make sure you send an email with your reasons, as the forum isn't necessarily monitored for feedback.

I'd like to see the cheater tire rule modified. Just about everyone runs RE-71Rs or other tires with a DOT rating of 200.
I think it should be modified to: DOT tread wear rating 140-199.
All the other penalties follow that model: 50-139, 1-49.
I don't think a car should be up-classed for running on the same gomme everyone else is using.
The ability to use the one point advantage is up to the wetware, not the hardware.
Consider the number of cars that would be down-classed if someone started making DOT 201's.

Tom,

It is a little late in the process to be making a proposal for a change, and this isn't the venue to do it. That period ended in June (see https://www.zone8.org/events/rules/proposed.php), and proposals must be sent to the Rules Coordinator in a specific format. You will have to wait until next year's round of rule changes to submit this idea, and good luck on it. Tire points are a sensitive subject to many folks.

TT

I just learned the history of the rule and why it's in place, no way I'm going to mess with it. :)

Don't worry, there will be a new cheater tire soon. There always is. :roflmao:

Those are a perfect fit for my Boxster :)

And no new tire rule, unless it reverses the last change
