Looked relatively safe compared to what I was seeing yesterday. I saw two occasions of corner worker running back onto track directly in front of oncoming cars (who thankfully slowed) after setting up cones instead of going further away on side they were on. I also saw one corner worker with his flag at his side watching the two cars that had ended up parked next to each other on the track (one had spun out and the 2nd stopped on their own after "catching them"), while a third car was coming into the area at speed. :shock:

We might want to revise part of the morning monologue. Not as much about what counts as a penalty (save that for the 33% of workers who will actually be calling in cones before they go out in the afternoon), and have a little more focus on watching out for and staying out of the way of cars- and set up cones only when safe to do so (as much lower priority). Didn't we have a poster showing how quickly a car caught up to a corner worker who had fallen (maybe that was in some other club)? Maybe we should consider reminders each time we swap corner workers.

Too many close calls!

I will revise the briefing, emphasizing:
Actions to take to alert cars of unsafe conditions/yellow flag
Impact zones
Avoiding crossing track if not necessary
Reminder that safety is higher priority than cone setting

A couple points you may want to add to the briefing:
1. You're generally safer on the inside of a corner than the outside.
2. In a slalom, stand in a place that directly lines up with a cone at a 90 degree angle to the driving line. You want to be either before or well after a place anyone can possibly spin. For directional slaloms, apply #1. I ended up moving the bucket twice on Sunday, once to get it in a safer position, the second time to get it closer to where cars were hitting cones (in a similarly safe position).
