A friend of mine at Kumho Tire forwarded me some pictures of a new tire compound that makes colored smoke during a drift.

I'm not sure how to upload a picture but I have some pic's if anyone wants to see them.

Now if we can just get them to stop calling it "drifting", which it isn't....and start calling it "power sliding", which it is........ :x

I can see Gregg Phillips drooling over these tires for his V-8 sharkmobile.

I must be getting old, but this drifting is flat out stupid. Red tire smoke of my god where is this going.

The only good part about the drifting contest are the cheerleaders

Yes, I have tried to get Kumho to put me on their testing team 8)

Sorry, Tim but if you saw that one of the most popular drifters is a Japanese Silvia. Yes some of the succcessful driters are big torque engines like the GTO or Viper, but RX7 & 8, Honda S2000 and even some front wheel drive cars are popular. It is drifting when done correctly.

Nope. Gotta disagree with you there. Drifting is when all 4 wheels are straight ahead and the car is finishing a sideways slide onto a straightaway. If you look at these cars who claim to be drifting, you'll always see some counter-steering going on, which means they are in an "over steering" condition and not a 4 wheel drift. You'll also almost always hear lots of throttle and wheel spin, hence my label- "power sliding."
