Personal Porsche Car Drive at Carson?

Hope this opens, otherwise copy/paste into your browser? Did others get the email from Porsche about this drive-your-own-car "opportunity?" I notice that no one has yet replied to my Thermal thread. Oh well. Maybe someone will find this offer interesting.

I think it's an awesome gift idea.
It's a great way to introduce someone to the world of Porsche cars.

The Porsche Owner Experience pricing is not that attractive to me.
It costs $595 to drive their 718 Cayman GTS and $445 to drive your own car.
I'm sure it will cost me a lot more than the $150 discount to drive my own
car with my own tires in a 90-minute session. :)

You are following a pace car in a lead-follow format so I guess the pace
car is setting (or limiting) your driving speed. :)

Another idea is to go in a totally different direction by renting a Porsche car.
Hagerty DriveShare:

https://driveshare.com/search-cars/

A few cars I clicked on give you 100 miles a day.

The Porsche Drive - Rental program is another option:

https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessories ... ve/rental/

The daily rental rate for a 718 Cayman is $265, 200 miles included.

I have done the driving experience in Atlanta. There was no pace car, just an instructor. He was a pro racer and he and I had a lot of fun. He was not use to having a 'student' who actually could drive, so he did not limit me at all. He even taught me how to drift on the skid pad.

That said, the course is pretty tight with walls everywhere, so you can't sanely have too much fun.

Our events are a much better value, but it is really fun using OPT

I chose the master the manual class, so I drove a Boxster GTS, Cayman GTS and Cayman GT4. I got my moneys worth....

Re VinhLy's comments, I agree that the economics of these Porsche USA sponsored activities seem to be a bit stretched. As for lead/follow, I've done this a few times with BMWs at Thermal. Better than driving the back roads to Julian with no idea what is around the next bend...but.... I'm thinking the attraction of Carson is: it's relatively close to Oceanside. Until we get into August, who knows what the Thermal program will include (and yeah, it's a lot of $$)? Echoing Jad, for sure our club events offer good value. Or used to. When we had them. What a b---- this COVID disaster has been and is. That said, the Club events are challenging because all of the tracks are so far away! Glorious flashback to 10 years ago when we lived in VA - Summit Point and all of its tracks: only an hour's drive from home. Also, thanks for the Mastering the Manual comment. I've been thinking about this choice for a couple of years. So all in all, fingers crossed that our Club lives will get back to normal sooner rather than later.

Carson update, per phone call today. No helmets. Windows up. Arrive by 3:15 for a 4 pm event. Arrive earlier? Might be possible to get in some simulator time, or another event. However, (asked per Jad's pump up) Carson is NOT offering Mastering the Manual, so "no" to my idea of trying to get that event into a two events single day. One or two Thursdays in August are booked, otherwise everything is open thereafter. As for the $50 damage waiver, seems that this protects us from paying them for the scratches after smashing into one of their concrete barriers or Armco barriers. Merry Christmas. Otherwise, "everything" at the Center is open, given social distancing and such.
