Chuckwalla - new track surface = car carnage

Chuckwalla re-surfaced the track last month. We ran a lucky dog endurance race there and have been cleaning out track material from the car since then. I expect the track to be significantly cleaner for our upcoming event than it was for the race we did, but it is significantly slower (3-4 seconds for me), than normal. Driving off line was like hitting ice - great car control practice! Have fun and don't expect to break any PRs!

I've never had so much track "dirt" on a car before. Material build up on the wheels caused severe vibration etc. Here are some photos of carnage on my zebra car: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d1mw56xa034b ... y0wda?dl=0

That air filter was brand new before the event - it is now completely clogged, and unserviceable.

Alex,

The event you ran was 3 days after resurfacing and in 110+ degree temperatures.
There had only been minimal laps run before you showed up so the track was really not ready for a stress test.
I would say you guys were the sacrificial lambs so it could be all rubbered in for us next weekend, so thanks!

And there will be 4 weeks between your event and our event so I am expecting a substantial improvement over what you had.
The 110 degrees might have made a difference in lap times as well.

But I will be sure to give a report here post event for our balmy high 90's conditions.
And I will throw a scraper in the tool box just for safe measure!

The track was amazing. So much faster than ever before despite the 100+ degree temps.

I was watching the times all weekend - I'm glad it settled. Bummed we couldn't make it out

Track is super fast now!
They ground and smoothed patches before resurfacing so you can put the power down everywhere.
Low power cars are probably a second faster and high powered traction limited cars are 2+ seconds faster.
Fastest time I have run (Except for the red 911).

I got 2 seconds on my last best lap there. I would have preferred to get 5, but 2 works
