PCASDR Buttonwillow reminder and track info

Postby jack miller on Fri May 13, 2005 9:47 am

Hi guys and gals,

The late date for registration for Buttonwillow is next Friday the 20th. No exceptions, no excuses this year for late reg.

When you register PLEASE remember to put your transponder # on the form. If you don't indicate that you are either renting or put your #, you will not be registered. Everyone who has registered so far, you have put your #s; no need to email me.

If you plan to camp at BW, add $60 to the reg form for the security fee. Just write it in since there is no space for it. You must also pay BW for the actual spot, an additional $40-45 for the weekend. If anyone wants a garage (I recommend it), it is $125 for the weekend. Contact the track. 1-661-764-5333. Get your hotel reservation soon. I only held 25 rooms and took 5 for myself and cornerworkers.

We will be running the standard POC race configuration CW Race #1 with Star Mazda and Bus Stop. I may reverse the track for a session or two late Saturday. We'll see.

Prepare for a lot of fun! See you there.

Buttonwillow fun

Postby jplavanjr on Mon May 16, 2005 3:32 pm

Just got back from racing with VARA last weekend. Most of the runoffs have become pretty big ledges so be careful.

Here's a cool pic of my Dad testing the depth at the exit of turn 1 (Clockwise):

Jack:

I vote to save the CCW lapping sessions for Sunday, maybe if you
do fun runs after timing.

Besides Martin has been cleaning out his interior, and can't think
straight anymore - he might forget, and keep running CW
(hmmm.... at least I'd have a chance to pass him...) :P

Yes, can we skip the CCW laps, not nearly as fun as the CW configuration. After timed runs if folks want to try it please?

 that's right too many chemicals in my body right now (mainly lungs and brain). Where does counter clock wise racing and racing between walls come from anyways? :?

I found the anwser to my question:

On oval tracks why do the race cars always go counter clockwise and make only left turns?

Answer

Not all tracks are counter clockwise, but every NASCAR oval track has only left turns, because the drivers sit on that side of the car. The drivers generally try to keep to the inside of the track (because it is a shorter distance around the track) So by making all left turns, the drivers can better see what is going on around them
