Chuckwalla TT April 3-4 vids

Here are a couple of vids of me destroying my front tires around Chuck last weekend.

Feedback welcome.

Pre-emptively: I know I am leaving track at the exits of (at least) 2, 6, 12, and 14, this is PTSD from a Lucky Dog race that prevents me from fully committing to high-speed exits at Chuck. I'm seeking help.

Congrats on the 1:59 Rob, the only thing that is jumping out aside from your fear of tracking out is your lack of curb usage. When you are grabbing curbs, you are just touching them, instead of committing and using all of them. Use all the curb at chuckwalla, every time. I noticed in your fastest lap you completely missed the curb at 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 14, and 15. In 3, 12, and 16 you can take a lot more curb. This shortens the track, and gives you an extra couple feet of track width to play with, which might help with your high speed exits.

I have lately come to find that curbs slow my car down when taken as an apex. The curbs introduce a 4-wheel slide, which is fun, nice for rotation, feels fast, and looks great. Unfortunately, I find the time I spend gathering the car up is time I could have been back on the gas, and the slide takes away exit space.

No harm in giving it another try, though. Thanks for watching and for your input.

You are correct that using too much curb, especially in your car, is not the smoothest or fastest way around the track. Your suspension is still fairly soft and it unsettles the car when you take too much curb. I found your line to be very good with the exception of 2, 11 and 14. Nice driving. I will have my tire clearance issue fixed for WSIR so I can finally use my new tires.

Looking forward to seeing you on good tires, Mark.

Can you offer specific suggestions for 2, 11, and 14?

Thanks,
Rob

Cool checking out other videos at CVR. Here is my best lap of the weekend early Sunday before it got too hot.
