Tires - Ugh

Postby keefer on Tue May 18, 2021 9:53 am

So, tires in the 18/19 986/987 sizes are pretty much non-existent now. I just spoke to my TR rep and based on what he knows, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I tried the A052 over the weekend, great tire, now back-ordered with no expected production date . . .

Tire management is going to get interesting for the rest of 2021 it seems.

Aww man, I should have gotten another set to have in reserve.

I still have one brand new set of A052's and maybe a session or two left on my RE-71R's.
Hopefully I'll be able to find something before the summer drought bucket list track adventure.

Thanks to Chris for the heads up. I quickly jumped on it and placed an
order for some A052 tires.

The future looks bleak. In the short term, it doesn't look good for those
who are in the hunt for the RT660 or A052 tires to put on our Cayman cars.
I have enough tires to drive at WSIR in June but let's hope supply improves
in late summer.

For me, I think:

RE-71R > A052 > RT660

YMMV & good luck to us all.

It looks like it's starting to open up a bit. I've got 2 sets of A052's arriving on Tuesday, one from Bears and the other from Tire Rack.
Should be enough to last until Buttonwillow

I have a new, never-used set of Bridgestone RE71Rs available. Purchased in January for my now sold 987.2 Cayman but never used and still in plastic bags. 245/40/18 & 275/35/18. Make me an offer!

I posted them in the classifieds but they didn't show up.
