The Biden admin is planning to try and do the same. Does our government need to know where we go, when we go, who we see? Where we shop, play, whatever? I think not.

Heh, it all comes down to a simple equation. If you have an EV and you're not paying for gas taxes, you're not paying to keep the roads you drive on maintained.
It's not really political, it would happen no matter who is running things.
For anyone running our beloved gas guzzling Prorshes, nothing changes. everyone else may need to pay a little more to keep our highways maintained.
I don't see a problem there. Personally, I like well maintained roads. No panic here, the deep state is not taking over
