It saddens me greatly to tell everyone here of the passing of Mike Dougherty.
Mike, Tom Tweed, and I have been administering the Forum since 2004.
Mike was a very talented software engineer and lent his talents to all the background magic nobody sees but has made the forum a reliable source of club communication for over 20 years.
I met Mike back in the early 2000’s when he bought his 2002 Boxster-S.
Mike quickly jumped in with both feet at AX and then Time trial/DE and then Club racing.
There was a big group of a dozen or so of us “track rats” that came up together at that time making for some great personal memories and stories for another time.
Mike’s life sent him overseas for many years before coming back to the states.
But in all that time he never quit his work with SDR showing what kind of guy he was.
He left his Boxster here in the states in storage until he decided it was time to let her go to the right custodian.
I bought it from Mike and turned the stripped racecar into a track car that could be driven on the street (and to the track of course)
I sold it to Cathy Young who ran many years of Time trial before she moved to Florida and we sold it to a new generation of talent in the hands of Jake Stone.
I tell you all this because Mike loved hearing about the adventures his car was having even if he was unable to be in the driver’s seat.
Mike was a HUGE race fan of all types and his wife told me that his last hours were spent with leg movements that she realized were his final laps at the Nürburgring.
Here is a link to Mike's obituary https://www.jamesfuneralhomelkn.com/obi ... l=obituary On the tribute wall, you will see the image of a chapel. There will be a livestream tomorrow 5/27/25 of the service since so few of his friends and family from all over the world can make it.
Mike is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Eliora, Abigail, and Tirzah;
It was a privilege to know you and be part of your story Mr. Dougherty…
