From the postings above I noted that Evan Beal's GT3 posted a great time but was running R-rated tires and, as such, was not properly classified in PSS. His car should instead be classified in PS. Likely an honest mistake by Evan but it should now be corrected to be fair to all participants as it affects no only the Class and BRI standings but also puts a Track Record on the books which likely will not be broken easely by a properly classified car.
Kary/Robert, since you maintain the files, would you make the respective correction? Situations like this, if confirmed, should always be corrected without having to go thru Protest proceedings in the interest of fairness and to keep our motivation up.
Yes, but winning your class is nice, too!John Bell wrote: Having fun and learning how to be a better driver are infinitely more important to me than anything else.
. Well written! Though not true very entertaining. On my behalf I am sure Jay will be my witness as he set up my car. Maybe this is just an attempt to slander another race shop cleverly disguised to point to me because the accusing race shop had no car in the top ten?David J Marguglio wrote:I just got off the phone with sources believed to be close to Evan and they indicated that Evan would not be voluntarily withdrawing from PSS class, but instead he was going to file a protest against Kary Clements car and his Top 10 position. The source explained that it is Evans position that Kary was using an improper ballast that allowed him to potentially run under the minimum weight required for his class.
I spoke with Kary and he indicated that, At now time did he run underweight. He further asserted that he was appalled at the suggestion and that he stood prepared to provide evidence that he was in compliance with the current rules and regulations, but added that perhaps the regulation is unclear.
At issue are the legality of two carbon-fiber fuel tanks within Karys main fuel cell. Evans people believe that through a complex system of siphoning fuel back and forth from the smaller tanks, it would keep several gallons of fuel in reserve after the tank had been pumped dry and thusly provide and illegal ballast when the car was weighed. If this proved to be true it would remove Kary from the Top Ten list and bump everyone (including Evan) up the list.
Jack Miller weighed in with the following: It may not possible for PCA to find that Kary deliberately committed fraud. However, Kary displayed a highly regrettable negligence and lack of transparency.
