New Time Trial records page!

Postby kary on Mon Jun 06, 2005 9:29 pm

I have long thought about having a records page like POC. With some small data modifications to make the track names consistent and handling the different configurations that a particular track presents I have created a new function on the link below that allows us to look up track lap time records by class. All that is necessary is that you pick a track in the list and the rest is calculated off the the historic results of a like track configuration. Currently there are about 2.5 years for time trail.

The time format is not working but I will fix that later, otherwise please let me know if you find anything else. Also, please check to see if the trrack configurations I set in the track names for the event are correct as there is little information available around which direction or formats were used in 2003 and 2004.

Here is the main link:
http://web2.pcasdr.org/pca/pca.php?database=tt

BTW, this only works for time trial as there is no way to compare auto-x tracks!

Enjoy :D

Kary - This is awesome!

A couple of questions, please...

1. The BWRP CW with Star Mazda is from 2003, and last weekend.
The times, however seem a lot different. Just about everyone did
much slower in 2005, and some with higher class cars still were
slower last weekend. I wasn't there in '03, but I suspect it must
have been a different layout - right?

2. Is the "flip time format" button converting the wrong way?

Thanks again - it's great to be in the record books!

Paul.

In 2003 we didn't run it with Star Mazda and if we did, I took a short cut every lap.

I wasn't there in 2004, but was told that Star Mazda was used.

ButtonWillow tracks

Postby Greg Phillips on Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:44 pm

In 2003 we ran CW without Star Mazda Race 13 configuration with the Sweeper.
In 2004 and 2005 we ran Race 1 configuration with Star Mazda CW.
You can only compare the 04 & 05 times.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I will correct the buttonwillow relationships tonight.

As far as the time formats I mengioned above this is not working correctly for munites and seconds buy I will fix that when I get time.

All suggestions are welcome, jeep them coming!

I know this is nitpicking (but that's what I am here for) but given the rules changes from year to year it is not precisely accurate to compare classes from one year to the next. Especially SS classes which I would expect, all things being equal, to be slower than last years times. As there is no practical way to adjust for this, I will just throw it out there to be irreverent.

Kinda true for all records as technology, temperatures, rules, wind, sun, etc, etc are always changing. I think this give a good benchmark to shoot for each event. I doubt any of the records are so good, they can't be beaten even with the rules changes.

Well certainly yours at Willow comes to mind, Jad; I may have to bring my bone-stock (as Martin is fond of saying) RSA up to WS and pull that little trophy out of your water-pumping grasp.

I agree with Jad, there are so many factors involved in record times that a change in classifications is just not that important. It does however illuminate the issue of why we change classifications. If we set some cars in classes there really should not be any good reasons why they need to be changed so radically later. The addition of the GT3 and Cayenne really should not have any affect, unless we try and shoe horn in cars into existing classes that do not belong in the first place

Thanks John! Those are pretty tight spreads  You were pretty good as well only a few tenths apart. I believe it is important to be able to lay down consistent fast times over just blasting off one good time with the others slower because of mistakes or offs. Hopefully one day in future I can get into endurance racing. I really like the challenge of that over trying to blast off 1 good time.
