There's talk amongst the POC racers of starting a Southern Cal. 911 Spec class. Looks like it moving in the direction of '77-89 in mostly stock trim. If you are interested in participating in the discussion, talk a look at this thread.

Thnks Mike- I've been looking for motivation to step up to WTW racing, but the POC cars are pretty spendy. Having a 911 spec class would be perfect for me.

The POC licensing process is pretty long. How many events or time do you think it would take for a time trialer such as myself to work through their process?

They took all my track days I did with sanctioned clubs (i.e. PCA and NASA) as qualifications. You have to have completed 6 TT's before qualifying for the Racer's Clinic. TT's with PCA count, but you will also have to do one or two POC TT's I suspect. If you are close and want to get into the last Clinic for '05 you should send your driving resume to their CDI. He will tell you exactly what else needs to be accomplished before you qualify.

Hey, I don't think AM really includes early 911's anymore either.

This spec 911 sounds very cool, but it's got to have the early cars in it too.

Did you two miss the mostly stock part of the class? Is there an original or stock part on your cars??? Besides the brown paint on Dan's car

yeah, your a funny guy capt... What are you going to do when I finally paint my door jams?...

I was hoping they would use the 911 toyo cup rules which could include the early cars as well. Besides my car is a LOT closer to stock than Mr Curt's...

Dan and Curt - If they don't adopt the Toyo rules there are alternatives. At early 911 appreciation rates in 6 mos you can sell the car, put money away for retirement and buy a 944 Turbo. Nevermind, I forgot about your matching 911 tatoos.

Continue to be your daddy?

Dan... in case you haven't noticed, this is no longer the epic GS/S battle of your viper green 73E against Jads red 944. Remember back then when you had a car that cost twice as much as Jads but was still a tiny bit faster?

Now we have cars that are 2-3x more expensive than Jads and he is b'yatch slapping us. I can barely sit down just thinking about it.

I'll bet Jad is just giggling his arse off as he passes us on the track out there. And we know we can't show Dan's in car video of him being passed by Jad because I'm sure the audio would get him banned from the club. :D

2-3 times?? hardly. If he hasn't surpassed 25k into that car, thats including labor, I'll eat a bug...
My 911 is maybe 40% more in cost. Nowhere close to 2 or 3 times. Now your car on the other hand...

No bugs for you as I figure I am at about $25k not including tires, and maintenance, just with car and mods/upgrades.

But I seem to be forgeting what your time at BW was  It must have been about a 2:07, right

Have a good 4th!

ANYWAY..........
Sheesh! I think the topic was spec racing 911's? LOL!

I've brought this idea up more than several times among the POC crowd. No takers. No one wants to change their cars.
My idea was 74-89 911, 911S, 911SC, and Carreras.
Everybody runs a stock 3.2 with headers.
Must use pump gas and stock compression.
Spec tires on 7's and 8's.
Stock brakes.
Minimum weight includes driver, just like NASA.
I haven't been reading the POC forum for a while so I don't know what they're specifically talking about.
